Friday Night Out

I am so happy the weekend is here!  Today went by faster then I imagined it would.  I had training today for 8 hours for our new design/drafting software.  It was really interesting, and the instructor was great so the day was over in the blink of an eye.  Now I’m just doing a quick post before we leave to go to a bar to meet a couple of friends.  I’m not going to drink when I go out tonight but I am enjoying a little cocktail right now.

Yesterday I recieved a package of POM Wonderful Pomegranate  juice, like I’ve seen so many other people talk about on their blogs.  I was so excited when I came home to a box on the steps.  I’ve been dying to try this juice.

Picture 026

Picture 033

Thanks Diana for giving me the opportunity to give these a try.

I am currently drinking some of the juice with a small amount of vodka. It is so delicous!  Great cocktail.  After I made my cocktail I took a sip of the juice straight and although many bloggers said it was to tart for them to drink alone I thought it was really good, and can’t wait to drink some more plain.

Picture 022

But obviously I am getting ahead of myself so let’s rewind back to this morning.  I knew I was going to be starting the training almost the second I got into work so since Andrew and I were able to commute today I took the car ride as a chance to eat my breakfast.

Picture 003

My granola was at work so I just ate this plain.  I loved it, but it was more of a snack then a meal, and I was pretty hungry mid morning.

We had lunch provided for us today and I took advantage of the pizza.  Pizza 2 times in 2 weeks?  Who am I to say no?  So I took a slice of plain.

Picture 004

Mmmmm.  That was a good slice of pizza.

Dinner tonight I made a veggie quesadilla.  Andrew wanted me to roast some potatoes like I did the other night so he could have them with eggs, I took some of the roasted potatoes, and I also roasted 2 peppers, and some onion, and put them all on a tortilla wrap with some cheese.  This is before I put the other tortilla on top.

Picture 007 Picture 008

 Picture 009

I popped this in the oven for about 10 minutes at 400* and enjoyed a yummy quesadilla with some salsa.

Picture 013 Picture 011

So good!  Well I better finish getting ready to go out!  Hope you all have a great Friday night.

One More Day

I’m so happy tomorrow is Friday!  I’m sure most of you agree.  I can’t believe there’s only 2 more days of February left, where did this month go?  A week from Saturday we set the clocks ahead which means an extra hour of daylight in the evening, which I am so ready for!  Spring is just around the corner and the idea of that has me smiling from ear to ear.

I’ve had a hard time getting to sleep lately, I don’t know if I have more energy then I used to from the routine exercising but I used to be able to lay down and within a few minutes be fast asleep.  I’ve had more trouble lately so I want to try to get into bed a little earlier for the next few weeks in the hope I’ll be able to fall asleep earlier too.  We’ll see how that goes, but in order to do that I need to blog quickly tonight and get right into bed.

This morning I had overnight oats with 1/2 a cup oats, 1/2 a cup skim milk, cinnamon, and vanilla.  This morning I added dried cranberries and pb of course.

Picture 013

I still can’t believe how long oats will keep me satisfied.  I used to snack between breakfast and lunch now I can easily hold out for lunch time.

For lunch today I had leftover cavatelli that Andrew had made for his dinner last night.

Picture 018

I ate this cold, I’m a big fan of cold pasta.

On the side I also had 3 mini sweet peppers.

Picture 016

Even though the package says “sweet” the red were kinda spicey, but they were still really really tasty.  I got a huge bag of these from Costco so except to see these a lot in the next week.

Around 3 I got hungry and had a banana with pb sandwiched in the middle.  The department vp came over to talk to me while I was snacking on this so I didn’t get a picture, here’s an old one I took the last time I had this snack though.

Picture 010

For dinner tonight I didn’t know what I wanted.  So I just had a few different things that sounded good.  I had a toasted ww bagel with light butter, a string cheese, and a romaine lettuce salad with light caesar dressing.

Picture 034

Picture 037

This was a weird but good dinner, it satisfied a few different cravings I was having so it hit the spot for me.

Well as I said I’m going to get into bed early tonight so I’m going to end the post here.  Hope you all have a great night, and that tomorrow goes by quickly.  Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?

40 Days and 40 Nights

I feel like this whole week is just flying by!  I can’t believe tomorrow is already Thursday.  Tomorrow is a normal work day for me but there’s a meeting I need to attend plus more work on a new project so tomorrow should continue the trend and be over before I even realize it.  Then Friday I’m getting trained on a new version of our design/drafting software the whoooooole day which will also go by super quickly.  Then Saturday it’s my mom’s kinda sorta birthday.  She’s a leap year baby (she’s only 12 lol) so she doesn’t have an actual birthday, but she makes us celebrate anyway.  Any ideas on what to get a mom who never asks for anything?  Send them my way, I have no clue what to get her!

So for breakfast I continued the Chobani trend of the week and had another peach yogurt with peak protein granola.

Picture 001

I had to stop myself from licking the container clean, I just love this flavor.

I was so excited for my lunch I almost couldn’t wait to eat it!  But I held off until a normal hour, and had my leftovers from last night’s dinner out.  Gosh this was even better then last night!  Michelle and I talked about it at lunch and how we just want more and more of it.

Picture 005

I was hungry for a snack around 3 but there just wasn’t much time to eat.  It was a crazy day where I felt like I was running around the office more then I was at my desk, I am in no way complaining being at my desk for 9 hours a day really drives me nuts.  It was nice to have things to do that didn’t involve sitting there.

I had to meet with my personal trainer tonight so I had to have a quick dinner.  And it’s Ash Wednesday so that means no meat for me.  I went the easy route and had an egg wrap.  I had 2 scrambled eggs, with 2 mini sweet peppers mixed in, and some onion.  On the side I roasted 2 baby white potatoes with a small amount of olive oil, garlic powder, and onion powder.  Such an easy meal but completely satisfying!

Picture 007

There was too much egg to fit all in the wrap so I had some on the side as well.

Picture 010

Those potatoes were roasted perfectly.

So did you give anything up for Lent?  I’ve been toying with giving up meat and I still haven’t decided yet, but I think I’m going to do it.  It’s only 40 days right?   It’ll give me the chance to try new things, and I think to get out of this food rut I feel like I’ve been in, it’s just the right choice for me right now.  I was scared to put it on the blog because I’m afraid I might not be able to do it.  But if it’s on the blog it will hold me accountable.  I have great resources for vegetarian meals with all your wonderful blogs, and my best friend Michelle is a vegetarian as well so she’ll be able to help me on the way.

Since I typically eat meat I’m not going to be a very strict vegetarian, as it is I don’t eat too much red meat, it’s going to be chicken that’s going to be hard to give up.  But I’m willing to give it a shot.  Wish me Luck!

Fat Tuesday & an Interview

Another day flew right by!  I can’t believe tomorrow is the middle of the week already!  I hope you all had a quick moving Tuesday as well.  I’m exhausted after such a busy day so I’m going to get right into my eats.  I also did an interview that Brandi of Bran Appetit sent me!  She had some great questions!

Breakfast today was an old favorite combo.  Plain Chobani with a crumbled deep chocolate vitamuffin crumbled on top.  Such a great mix!

Picture 001

I should have brought a bowl to mix it all in, it was quite overflowing, after I took this picture I really crushed it up in there, my department vp thought I was eating cookie’s and cream ice cream for breakfast.  It was almost as good!

Lunch was a big salad with romaine lettuce, a mini sweet pepper, and black beans, with caesar dressing, also yummy but a little boring.  Sometimes I hate having to pack lunches ahead of time because I never know what I’m going to be in the mood for.

Picture 005

For snack a little later I had a braeburn apple.

Picture 006

As I said yesterday I had dinner plans with my friend Michelle.  We decided to go out to dinner but didn’t know where to go.  She had a coupon for Bertucci’s so we decided to go there.  Great Choice!

There rolls are delicious!  I had 1 and 1/2.

Picture 007

We ordered the exact same thing right down to the salad. We each got a house salad with balsamic vinaigrette, I forgot to say dressing on the side, I ate about 1/2 of it but the rest was drowning in dressing.

Picture 009

I also gave Michelle my olive’s.

For dinner we both ordered off the lunch menu and got the eggplant panini. It was Fire-roasted eggplant, Pomodoro sauce, fresh basil, mozzarella and provolone cheese.  Minus the provolone cheese for me.  I like it sometimes but I’m not a fan of it melted.

Picture 011

I have one piece left of the 3 so expect to see that for lunch tomorrow.  It was a great dinner, we had a lot to catch up on since we haven’t hung out it a while.  Lots of laughs.

So as I said Brandi sent me an interview to fill out.  She asked some great questions and it was fun to answer them.  I’ve seen this on a ton of blogs so I’m sure most of you have already been interviewed, but if you haven’t and you’d like me to interview you leave me a comment and I’ll happily do so!

Here’s the rules to play along:

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."  If a few people want

interviews, I will randomly pick 2.

2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. (I get to pick the

questions).

Here are the Questions Brandi sent me

1. What is your all time favorite breakfast?

When I was little we always had a big breakfast on Sundays.  Usually bacon or sausage and eggs with hard rolls or bagels.  It was my favorite meal of the week, I would wake up early and go to the bakery with my dad, then we would go to 7-11 to get coffee for him and hot chocolate for me.  We’d then go to the beach or to the marina to look at the boats.  Once we returned home we would have scrambled eggs and bacon sandwiches.  Now I switch it up with turkey bacon to make it a little healthier, and it’s not every Sunday, but it’s still an ultimate comfort food for me on the weekends.

2. What do you think is the perfect food combination?

Chocolate and Peanut butter, I’m not sure you can get better then that!  Or pineapple on pizza, another ultimate favorite.

3. What do like best about blogging?

Oh my gosh there are so many things!  I love that it’s introduced me to a super supportive community.  When my sister was in the hospital last month I got some of the sweetest comments.  Every blogger I’ve gotten a comment from has been so positive, I feel like I have a whole bunch of friends all over the country and world!  I also love the time it makes me take on my food.  Before I would mindlessly eat right at the kitchen counter or stand at the pantry and just snack.  Taking the time to put my food on a plate and take pictures of it slows the whole meal process down.

4. How/why did you start blogging?

Early fall I stumbled across either Jenna or Kath’s food blogs, I forget who I ran across first, I instantly started clicking through the links and comments and found a whole community of girls who were eating healthy and living active lives.  I’ve been unhappy with my weight for about 2 years now and I would try to make changes but they never stuck.  I would go to the gym for a few months, and eat decently and then would just stop.  The idea that the blog would hold me accountable made it a pretty easy decision to start my own.  I’m so happy I did, I see the changes in my body and the changes in my attitude towards food and I’m so grateful that the blog, and other bloggers have changed my outlook.

5. If you could spend the day with anyone (dead or alive), who would it be and why?

My paternal grandfather.  I never met him, he died a couple years before I was born.  I’ve heard a lot of stories about him but it would be great to get to meet him.  Knowing my dad and my aunt and uncles he must have been a great person since he raised them. I’m lucky to still have my maternal grandparents, and was able to get to know my paternal grandmother before she passed away when I was younger.  But I’ve always been curious as to what my grandfather was like and I’d love to spend a whole day just talking to him and finding out things about him.

A New Spin On Leftovers

Whew Monday is over!  Today was a pretty good day, I’m feeling much better today.  I would say I’m 90% back to good health.  My work day flew right before, before I knew it the day was over and it was time to go home.  Tomorrow is not going to be a fun day I’m starting a new project and I pretty much have 2 days to get it all done.  Should make tomorrow go by quickly as well, but it is going to be so hectic!  Hope you all had a fabulous Monday!

Chobani was on sale at Stop and Shop 10 for 10 so of course I stocked up.  I feel like it’s been a while so I grabbed a peach one for breakfast today.  I also restocked my Bear Naked Peak Protein Granola so I was able to have a protein filled breakfast.

Picture 004

You can see my desk was a complete disaster today with all the papers surrounding my breakfast.  My desk is usually super neat but I let all the papers pile up around me today.  Hopefully after this quick project is over my desk will be back to my normal organized work space.

Lunch today I had a serving of Pacific Natural Foods Organic Creamy Tomato soup.  I enjoyed it a lot, but I’ve never been a big fan of tomato soup, I would get this again just for ease, but it’s hardly something I would crave.

Picture 007

On the side I had 15 kashi crackers, but only ate 10 of them.  I put the other 5 back in the box for another day.

Picture 006

After this lunch I was satisfied for a long time but around 3 I got hungry again.  I snacked on 3/4 of a banana with pb sandwiched in the middle.

Picture 010

I love this snack it is so filling and it does an awesome job of fueling a workout or keeping me from snacking all afternoon at work.  It gets the job done for serious. Yes, I just said for serious, it’s something I’ve been made fun of since high school, it’s something I say though I know it’s not good English though.

For dinner tonight I was craving the rest of my taco meat from yesterday.  But for the sake of the blog, I knew tacos again would be so boring so I re-created tacos with a new twist.  Taco Pizza was born!

It was a whole wheat boboli crust, 2.5 ounces of taco meat, 2 tablespoons of salsa, 2 sweet mini peppers diced,  and a little more then an ounce of a low fat mexican blend cheese.  I haven’t used VeggieGirl’s “Holy Yum” on this blog yet, but for real guys, HOLY YUM!

 picture-0121

Dare I say this was better then regular tacos.  After I finished eating I thought of one thing that would have made it better.  Shredded lettuce on top once it was out of the oven.  Seriously that would have been out of this world!  Please if you find yourself with taco leftovers, make this pizza, you will NOT regret it!

After dinner I was contemplating going to the gym.  I know I’m probably not going to be able to go tomorrow because I have a doctors appointment and then a dinner date with my friend Michelle.  But it’s cold out there!  So instead I looked on demand and found a yoga sculpt program.  I’ve never really done yoga, I mean sure on the Wii Fit, which totally doesn’t count.  After I set it up and the show started I found out it was level intermediate to advanced.  I didn’t feel like looking for a new one so I did the best I could, I can’t believe how much work it was!  Yoga is something I will totally do again.

P.S. Head on over to Hangry Pants where Heather and Mark are giving away a box of Zoe’s Granola!

Weekend Recap

I am a bad weekend blogger.  Wish I could say it was because I was so busy with friends and having fun.  Unfortunately I didn’t do much this weekend, Friday night I crashed early and yesterday I was feeling really sick so I skipped a friends birthday dinner and night out for some time in bed.  Not a productive weekend but definitely needed.  I’m hoping that with all my rest I should feel great this week, I’m also hoping this week flies by as quickly as last week did.    It’s sad the weekend’s over but I’m ready to get this last week of February over and done with.  I can’t believe it’s almost March!  Springtime is just around the corner.  And March is my favorite month, I might be a little biased because my birthday is in March.

So clearly I have a lot to cover since I have not written anything since Thursday.  So let’s get onto the eats.

Friday for breakfast I had a bowl of oats, I decided to finish off my canister used the 3/4 heart healthy portion.  That was really good but super filling.

Picture 002

With cranberries and PB.  So delicious!

This was seriously stick to your ribs good.  3/4 of a cup is great, but it definitely kept me full for hours.  By lunch I was barely even hungry so I just snacked on a cut up gala apple, 2 clementines, some blueberries, kashi crackers, and about 1 tablespoon of pb.

 Picture 009

I didn’t eat that z bar until about 3:30.

For dinner that night we made a stir-fry of sorts.  I used black beans, green peppers, onions, baby corn, and salsa.  It was a really yummy combo.

Picture 022

After this we headed to the gym, it felt soooooooo good to be back.  I definitely didn’t have my best workout but it was really good.  I was just happy to be back to working out.

I woke up Saturday morning and had some puffins for breakfast.

Picture 025

I ate about 3/4 of this before I was full.  After breakfast I hit up Costco with my dad, I didn’t buy much just some socks, bananas, a new scale, and some seasonings.

For lunch later on I was craving some of that Panera LF chicken tortilla soup, so I ran out and bought some and ate it at my parents while I waited for Andrew to be done with work for the day.

I got the soup:

Picture 030

And their Classic Garden Salad:

Picture 034

I also ate a piece of the whole wheat baguette, but somehow I didn’t get a picture of it.

After Andrew got out of work we headed to the gym.  I felt like complete crap, I got horribly out of breath barely doing anything and my head was pounding we only wound up staying about 45 minutes before I finally couldn’t take it anymore.  We left and came home.  We had a birthday for a friend to go to, we were supposed to go out to dinner and then out to a bar, but I knew I just needed to stay home.  I made myself a comforting dinner, while Andrew headed out for the birthday festivities.

I had 2.5 ounces of whole wheat Angel Hair pasta, with 1/4 cup of spaghetti sauce.

Picture 035

I ate this and then moped around the house, frustrated that I was missing out, especially because a friend I rarely see was there.  I took a hot shower, took some medicine and laid down, after about 45 minutes I felt super sick and nauseous.  Unfortunately that spaghetti dinner didn’t stay down very long after that, sorry I know that’s TMI.

I fell fast asleep by 9:15 and only briefly woke up when Andrew got home later that night, other then that I slept right up until this morning.  I felt much better but didn’t have any appetite until close to 12.  I decided to have scrambled eggs with green pepper and 3 turkey sausages.

Picture 043

Because we ate so late in the day I didn’t wind up eating any lunch.  We went to the gym and the girl I was sad I didn’t get to see last night was actually there, after she gave me some grief for not going out last night we worked out together.  She works at the gym as a trainer (not mine though) so I did 20 minutes on the bike while I waited for her to finish up, then she showed me some new arm exercises to do.  She worked me out hard we were both dripping sweat by the end.  Then we did a quick 15 minutes on the elliptical.  I was so surprised by how much I did the elliptical, I’m not a fan of it, but I might have fallen in love with it today.  I was drenched in sweat when we left.

After the gym we ran to the food store to pick up a few items for the week, sorry I didn’t take any pictures of our purchases.  We made tacos tonight with lean ground beef.

I had 2 tacos on a whole wheat toritilla with lettuce, green peppers, salsa, and mexican blend cheese.

Picture 051

Well I’m off to finish my taxes.  Keep your fingers crossed for a big return!

Fat Sandwiches

Hey everyone!  I’m feeling better again, still not 100% but so much closer, I’m excited to go to the gym tomorrow.  I took another night off and I know I needed it, but I’ll be so happy when I’m able to workout at full capacity again.  I’m sure tomorrow is going to be hard but it’s going to be so nice to get back in there.

Today I was in a really good when I got to work.  The sun was shining it was in the 50’s, I was feeling better, and then I got to work, everyone seemed to be in a bad mood today.  The clouds quickly rolled in with drizzles here and there, and the temperature dropped down to 35*.  But it’s Thursday so I was trying not to let everyone else’s moods affect my attitude for the day.  It’s hard trying to be positive when everyone else was so negative, but I know that tomorrow everyone will be happy it’s Friday, as will I.  I mean you get to wear jeans to work tomorrow.  Things don’t get much better then that right? Ha.

So I started out the morning with a blueberry Chobani.  I still think this isn’t the best flavor, I’ll stick to plain, vanilla, and peach from now on, but I’m glad I was able to find this in the store and try it.  I also had 2 clementines on the side.

Picture 001

All I wanted today for lunch was pb on a bagel, I settled for 1/2 a bagel with lots of fruit on the side.  I had grapes, blueberries, and 2 prunes to go along with my peanut buttery bagel.

Picture 004

Picture 003

Yum!

I still don’t have my full appetite back so there was no snacking in between meals, but my mom texted me this afternoon to ask if Andrew and I wanted to go to one of the local diners for dinner.  If you’ve been to or are from NJ you know that diners are every 1/2 mile on the highways.  If you’re from Jersey I’d bet you spent many countless hours at a table in a diner, just drinking coffee or eating pork roll, egg, and cheese on a hard roll (ewww not me though, I’ve always loathed pork roll).  I’d even go so far as to guess you’ve gone to a diner after at least one homecoming or school dance all dressed up with a big group of friends.  Yeah, we really love diners in Jersey.  At a diner you can get anything, Italian food, Greek gyros, Mexican food, and of course breakfast 24 hours a day.  Or if you go to my local diner you can get a “Fat Sandwich.”  Intrigued?  Here’s the selection of Fat Sandwiches at the diner tonight.

Picture 006

All those ingredients are on one Sub roll.  So if you order a Fat Flo you’d get a sub roll with chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, french fries and marinara sauce all stuffed on there. Or perhaps you’re very hungry and that’s not enough.  May I suggest a Fat Manny, which is  cheese steak, eggs, pork roll, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and ketchup all on a long roll.

I ordered a Fat Nancy.

I’m kidding of course.  My order was not on the “Fat Cat” portion of the menu.  I got a veggie wrap which included grilled eggplant and zucchini, spinach, tomatoes, romaine lettuce, carrots, red onions, and mozzarella cheese, with balsamic dressing on the side.

Picture 009

Picture 011

It came with french fries, but Andrew’s meal came with home fries so I gave him all my fries for 1/2 of his home fries.   Delicious.  I ate one 1/2 the wrap and then picked the eggplant off the other half and just ate that, and I also ate almost all of the home fries.

Oh and my dad got a greek salad with his entree so I gladly ate some of that as well.

Here’s the whole salad.

Picture 008

I ate less then a 1/4 of his salad, mostly just picked out all his onions and ate those.

So there you have it, a typical night at a Jersey Diner, hope you enjoyed yourselves!

Hope you all have a great night, and hope your Friday flies by so you can start enjoying your weekends!

I’m back!

But not quite better then ever.  I’m still feeling extremely under the weather, but your kind comments have left me smiling so thank you!  This cold is going away pretty quickly and I feel much better, but still extremely fatigued.  I feel so lazy because I haven’t gone to the gym since Sunday and won’t be going again tonight, I was going to go but upon returning home today and walking up the 3 flights of stairs to the apartment I was completely out of breath and was ready for a nap, not exactly prime time for workouts.  I know I’m listening to my body and giving it the rest I need but I feel so worthless.  Not a good feeling.

So I have a lot to post since I didn’t last night.

My appetite was next to non-existent yesterday.  For breakfast I had a peach Chobani and a glass of Emergen-C.  I swear this is what’s making me feel better much faster.

Picture 002

Lunch was crap.  I wasn’t hungry so I had something I knew I needed healthy fat, fiber, and protein.  So I had a 1/2 a ww bagel with pb, and clementine for some extra vitamin C.Picture 003

Doesn’t get more bland huh?

I barely even finished the 1/2 a bagel.

I left work yesterday at 3:30 I just felt like I needed to go home and sleep.  So once I got home I laid on the couch watched some On- Demand Bridezillas and Platinum Weddings, (hint hint Andrew!)  and eventually crawled into bed and fell asleep, until after 9.  Once Andrew came home I woke up zombie walked into the kitchen made another cup of emergen-c and forced myself to eat something.  Nothing was appealing so I had a clif bar.

Picture 008

Those are my sheets in the background I couldn’t stay out of bed long enough to even eat.  I guzzled some Night time cough medicine and was back asleep by 10:30.  I slept right through the night and when my alarm went off this morning I whined about going to work, but Andrew FORCED suggested that I try to make it through the day.

Breakfast this morning was another round of Overnight oats.  Love!

Picture 013

I ate almost all of this.

I needed some fresh veggies so I actually went left the office and got lunch.

I went to the same place I went to my second day of blogging, Green Leafs.  My salad included romaine, balsamic vinaigrette, chicken, fresh mozz balls, onions, and cucs.

Picture 017

I ate almost all of it.  This was all that was left:

Picture 018

It’s a big hefty salad though.

Since my appetite has been so off this held me over until dinner.  I was craving pizza, real pizzeria pizza.  So Andrew took me to a local pizza place and for the first time this year I had a pizza that I didn’t make myself.

A slice of plain

Picture 019

And a slice of white.

Picture 020

Super thin crust, super delicious.  Oh pizza I certainly have missed you.

Here’s how bored I was tonight.  Sorry Wolfgang.  I may be deliriously sick, you decide.

391596331_1761388

Hope you all have a great night!  I can’t believe it’s almost Thursday, this week is flying on by!  Thanks again for your sweet comments yesterday and today!

I Got It

Well I finally caught the cold that’s been going around the office.  It hit me around 3 today so I’m going to do a really quick post, I’m drinking a hot glass of theraflu and then have some emergen-c that I’m going to drink.  I’m not going to let this cold get me down.

My eats were extremely boring, probably because I didn’t have much of an appetite.

For breakfast I had overnight oats with blueberries, dried crans, and pb.

Picture 001

I swear there’s oats under there.

I didn’t have much of an appetite but felt a little tired so I had 3 of my cappachino coated coffee beans!

Picture 004

I can not describe just how amazing these taste!

For lunch I brought my left over raviloli from V-day dinner, as well as several of the penne Andrew had left over from that dinner as well.

Picture 006

Messy but oh so good, I ate about 3/4’s of this.

Around 3 I got that sicky, achey, tired feeling so I didn’t snack on anything.  Once I got home I had some Wolfgang Puck Organic French Onion Soup.

Picture 007

I put a little less then an ounce of part skim mozzarella on top.  And popped it in the broiler.

 Picture 013

Perhaps my tastebuds are screwy from feeling sick but seriously this soup was nasty, it tasted super sweet, like a fake sugary taste and you could totally tell it came out of a can, I ate maybe a 1/4 of this before I chucked it.  Thanks, but no Thanks creepy Wolfgang Puck, keep your french onion soup to yourself.  I just tried to draw a pervy mustache on him but I don’t have the energy to put it into paint and repost it.  Just picture it yourself, funny right?

Since I wasn’t hungry at all I decided to have 1/2 an arnold sandwich thin with pb.

Picture 011

This tasted great and although I wasn’t hungry I’m glad I ate something.

Well I’m off to bed, sorry for such a crappy post, I’m hoping this Theraflu and emergen-c as well as plenty of rest will knock this cold right out of me.  Although working from home is always an option, I know that I have a lot of work to do that can’t be done from home so I’m planning on going in for at least a little while, if not the whole day.

I hope you are all having a better Monday then me!  Although I’m glad it’s not another sinus head ache at least when it is I know it, and can take some sinus medication, a cold is so hard to shake sometimes.

Getting Back to the Grind

This weekend went by way too fast.  I’m dreading going back to work tomorrow, it’s another full week of projects (when is it not really?)  This time of year reminds me of high school, that horribly long time between President’s Day and Easter where there are no more days off it seems so long.  Unfortunately for me my stretch of time is even longer, my next scheduled day off is Memorial Day and my last day off was the day after New Years!  I’m counting down the days until May 25th!  I feel like everyone I know has tomorrow off and I’m so jealous if you’re one of them!

Today was a really good day, it was chilly out but the sun was so warm, I love a sunny day, reminds me of warmer times.  Have I mentioned lately I’m sick of this cold weather?  Oh I have?  Well it’s true I’m sick of it, let’s move on to spring already!

Andrew and I decided to go out to breakfast today we went to our favorite place for breakfast called Sissy’s Place, it’s about a 2 minute drive from our apartment, and the location is just perfect.

Here’s some shots of the view.

It’s especially nice when it’s warm enough to sit outside.

Our apartment is somewhere up on the top of the hill you see in the background.  I wish we could say we had a perfect view of the marina and bay, but we don’t.  In the winter when the trees are bare we can see some water but not much.

I ordered a coffee and a water.

And to eat I got a fruit salad and a Potato Pepper Onion and Egg Sandwich.

It’s a delicious sandwich and the hard roll it comes on is so soft and good, although I wish they had an option for a whole wheat roll.  As an afterthought I could have easily just asked for it not on a roll.  Hindsight is 20/20.

After breakfast we took an extremely quick walk down by the water.  The wind was crazy though and my nose felt like it was about freeze off.  Andrew was kind enough to snap some pictures while my hands stayed firmly in my pockets.

You can see NYC in the background there, and in the foreground you can see typical NJ beach litter.  I’m kidding, not all NJ beaches have litter.

After breakfast we went to Barnes and Nobles to peruse the shelves, I walked away empty handed but bookworm Andrew found 5 books!  I’m a picky reader, I hate to admit this but not too long ago I would only buy/read books that were pink with legs on them, when I ran out of pink as long as it had legs on them I would buy it.  I’m a little less picky now but I definitely judge a book by it’s cover, what can I say?

Once Andrew was done pillaging Barnes and Nobles we went to my parents house so Andrew could do some heavy lifting with my dad.  My dad was rearranging the family room and needed Andrews help we only hung out there for a little while, in which time I tried to get my dog to play fetch with me, but she doesn’t like to do much, (like move unless absolutely necessary) so I did more running then Bailey did.

When we left my parents house we went to the gym, where I did a sweaty 1/2 an hour on the bike.  I don’t like the bike, I find it boring, but I knew I needed to give my right knee a break.  Surprisingly I got almost as sweaty as I do on the treadmill, I did race Andrew a few times which made me work a lot harder.

For lunch we hit up good old Subway,  I got a veggie sandwich with a side of apple slices.

Nothing special but it was satisfying after a long workout.

For dinner we had something special (for us at least), my parents gave us some Omaha steaks and if you’ve been reading red meat is pretty rare for us.  But these steaks are perfectly portioned for 4 ounces and there pretty swanky for us.  We don’t typically do steaks at all just ground meat.  I had my 4 ounce steak and a side salad.  Felt like a real indulgence.  Look away if you’re not a fan of rare beef.

Yum.  It was a really lean cut so it tasted really delicious.

Well I’m off to bed.  Oh I mentioned we were going to watch “Burn After Reading” last night I thought it was really good, a little weird and some thing were completely unexpected but if you like the movie Fargo I would say you’d like this movie as well.
