Rushing the Seasons

Happy October 1st!  Hope you all had a great start to the month.  I still can’t believe we’re in the 10th month already.

Tonight I went to Lowe’s with my dad and Andrew to pick some stuff up.  As soon as we walked in this is what we were greeted with:

Picture 019

That’s right Christmas Decorations, 3 rows worth!  How about they give us a chance to celebrate Halloween.  I really love Christmas a lot, the day after Thanksgiving I start decorating, listening to Christmas music, and watching Christmas movies (Elf, anyone?), so it’s not that I”m a grinch or anything, but really it’s just too soon!

Other then the Christmas explosion I witnessed tonight, today was a good day.  I’m thrilled tomorrow is Friday and will be eagerly watching the clock for 5.  We have a pretty calm weekend, just a 50th birthday party Saturday night, other then that it should be relaxing.

Breakfast this morning was juice again.  I got a question if this is all I’m having for breakfast, the answer is yes.  I know it doesn’t seem like much but it really does keep me satisified until lunch time.  If I was hungry I would honor it, and go for something extra.  I’m not saying I’ll only be having juice for breakfast forever, but I feel good so far and don’t see a reason to add anything else.

My juice was the normal, head of romaine, carrot, inch of ginger, lemon, and 2 apples.  I totally forgot to add the spinach, it taste much different but the color was more orange from the carrot then green.

Picture 003

Picture 005

I have a feeling I’m going to turn orange from all these carrots.

Lunchtime was another salad.  It was simpler then yesterday no avocado, carrots, or celery, I brought a green pepper to throw in but decided to eat that for a snack I really didn’t want it in the salad.

Picture 008

Picture 009

Around 3 I hate the green pepper.

Picture 011

For dinner Andrew and I went to the Whole Foods Salad Bar.  I got a huuuuge salad and a container of quinoa.

Picture 013

Picture 014

Picture 016

Romaine, red cabbage, cucumbers, carrots, red onions, and I think a million other things I can’t remember.

Andrew got everything I love and avoiding this week for my “mini cleanse”

Picture 015

Chicken parm, meatballs, sausage peppers and onions, baked ziti, and lemon rice!  It smelled amazing, it took a lot for me not to grab that chicken parm right out of his container!

NATIONAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

bc

October is the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Breast cancer awareness is very important to me, both my grandmother’s were diagnosed with it years ago, one of them unfortunately did not survive the battle.  My other grandmother, luckily,  is still going strong.  I’ve decided that I’m going to help spread awareness by doing different informative posts a few times a week for the month of October.  I’m working on the first post now, so I hope to be posting it by Saturday.

Well I’m going to get into bed, g’nite bloggies!

Counting Down the Days…

Happy Humpday!  I, for one, can’t wait for this week to be over.

During a much needed mental break today from work, I figured out that I have just 6 more working days until I have a long weekend.  I took next Friday off to go on our last camping trip of the year.

After I return from that trip there’s only 33 working days until Thanksgiving, and then after that just 19 working days until my Christmas week off!  This year has definitely flown right by, tomorrow is the first day of October already!.  And although I’m not a fan of cold weather I love this time of year.  It’s going to be a busy 3 months for me, but I’m excited and can’t wait to share some of our fun weekends with you guys.

Let’s get to the food though!

My breakfast juice was pretty much the same as yesterday, just as delicious!

Picture 062

And I enjoyed this out on the deck.  It was a little chilly this morning but we know there’s not going to be many more mornings we can spend outside on the deck so we’re taking advantage of it while we can.

Picture 066

See that mum in the background?  That bloomed way back in August, I’m surprised it’s still so pretty looking.

My juice once again held me over until lunch time.  I had another big salad but added avocado to it today, and some carrot strings.

Picture 069

Picture 068

I gave it another try but I still just don’t like avocado.  It’s in the back corner to the right I mixed it up in the salad but just didn’t like it.  I ate the whole bowl but just couldn’t really enjoy it because of the avocado.  Oh well, I guess it’s just not for me.

Once again I snacked on a HoneyCrisp apple for a snack in the afternoon.

Picture 071

Once I got home Andrew got busy making some soup for his dinner, while I tried to decide what I was going to have.  I had a million leftovers from last night’s dinner so I did a little leftover spin on it.  I had lots of brown rice (and still do) I added a little water to it and then some taco seasoning and microwaved it for 45 seconds.  The result was tacos, using the rice as the filler and lettuce leaves as the shell.

Picture 073

I put a little taco sauce on each one (all natural ingredients) and then used a little salsa as well.  This salsa is awesome, it doesn’t taste like any jarred salsa I’ve ever had, it tastes so fresh!

Picture 077

Picture 072

Picture 075

While I was eating this I roasted up some more potatoes like last night and had those as well.

Picture 084

Minus a couple that Andrew popped into his mouth while I was taking pictures:

Picture 087

That plate is a dessert sized plate by the way, I don’t think anyone could eat a whole dinner sized plate of those things, no matter how good they are.

Morning Routine Makeover

I don’t know if I’ve talked about this on the blog before but I’m not an early morning person.  It just seems like my body hates getting up before 7:30.  I shower at night just so that I’m more likely to get to work on time.  I’m a big time snooze abuser.  I typically get up 20 minutes before I need to leave, get ready and run out the door.  I hate always being in a rush in the mornings, so I decided I need to change my habits.

Tuesday morning I set an alarm I have to get out of bed to turn off, (instead of the alarm on my cellphone which is right on my night stand) 15 minutes earlier, and then today another 15 minutes earlier then that.  It gives me time to prepare my juice and clean the juicer, and have a little bit more time to get ready and make sure I’m ready for the day.  In turn my drive to work is more pleasant, and I’m having a much easier time in the morning.  Tomorrow I’m going to go another 15 minutes early and then Friday 15  more, that will ensure I have plenty of time in the mornings.

Let’s just hope this works next week as well.

Are you a morning person?  Any other tips on how to stop hitting the snooze each morning?

By The Sea

This feels so comfortable, sitting at my desk, blogging about my day’s food.  I didn’t realize how much I missed this!

I have to say today was an excellent day, work just flew right by with no stress or anything.  After I got out Andrew and I went out to dinner, and then we spent some time with his family.  Can’t get a much better Thursday then that!

Since I wasn’t able to blog last week, I didn’t get to tell you I’m back to working Fridays now.  Last week was my first full week back since March! The weeks definitely feel a whole lot longer, but I’m happy my paychecks are back to normal.

Breakfast today was a blueberry Chobani.  I meant to bring some things to mix-in but forgot.  I decided to check out the vending machines for some options.  I found a granola bar I used to eat when I was younger and decided to crush that up and mix it in.

Picture 092

Picture 095

And a much needed close up.

Picture 097

This was such a fun combination, it really reminded me of when I was younger.

Lunch was simple.  I was going to have a pb & j sandwich but decided to just have pb open faced on a sandwich thin.

Picture 099

So yummy!

Picture 102

Surprisingly I didn’t even have to dip into any snacks later on.  I had a nice normal appetite today, not a bottomless pit, or a lack of appetite.  Just Right.

For dinner Andrew and I had plans to cook but we had some errands to run, and want to spend some time with his family before they leave for vacation this weekend so we decided to just hit up the small restaurant on the bay by our apartment.  The weather was absolutely perfect for eating out on the patio.  It’s been so humid here, but the rain this morning balanced everything out.

You can’t beat a view like this while eating dinner.

Picture 104

Here are a couple of the fishing boats that run each day.

Picture 105

Picture 109

Such a fun night out!

Picture 114

I got a water to drink.

And for dinner I can’t stay away from breakfast at this place.  They do such a great job!  I got a  pepper, onion, and egg sandwich on whole wheat toast.

Picture 119

Picture 116

With a small side of home fries.

Picture 117

I wasn’t planning on eating all the home fries, but they are so darn good I definitely did.

Now I’m off to play some Wii Sports Resort with Andrew,  has anyone else played this new game yet?  It’s so much fun!

Oh before I go, did anyone else see Nigella Lawson’s new fridge?  I usually don’t swoon after an appliance but it’s actually really beautiful.  I found this on This Kitchn.

080409Meneghini01

And here’s a shot of it open.

080409Meneghini02

This fridge looks bigger then my entire kitchen, but I would love to have something like this one day.  I can dream can’t I?

Well I better go before Andrew beats all my high scores!

Random Foods

Hi Friends!  How was your Monday?   Mine went by super fast I can’t believe it’s almost over already.  I’m hoping the rest of the week goes quickly as well.  I had project management training all day which took me away from my desk, it made the day fly by, and I’m hoping I’ll be so busy tomorrow catching up on things that I should have been doing today that tomorrow is going to be another fast one.

I started off the day with Vanilla Chobani and another Luna bar mixed in, just like last week.  This time however it was the chocolate peppermint stick bar.  What a great combo of flavors.

Picture 062

Picture 061

My camera was acting kind of funny today as you can see, it’s like in soft focus or something.

Lunch was something I’ve been craving for a while.  Every time I open my freezer it was staring me in the face.

Picture 063

So delicious!  Amy’s burritos are awesome and this one was fantastic!

Picture 065

Definitely not an attractive lunch but delicious none the less.  I also had a peach on the side.

Picture 066

I think I have one more peach left, I’m definitely going to have to stock up they are so delicious!

Later I had a Granny Smith Apple for a snack.

Picture 069

Once I got home from work I snacked on a pickle while trying to decide what to make for dinner.

Picture 070

It was actually sunny out!  I’m almost out of pickles too, seems like I need to go shopping again.

For dinner I didn’t really have a clear idea of what I wanted, I knew I wanted broccoli, and definitely green beans, but couldn’t decide what else to have.  So I decided to make a quick box of rice pilaf and just mix the veggies in.

Picture 076

Kind of random but it’s just what I wanted.  And of course all that fiber filled me right up.

I was still in a snacky mood so I decided to break out the watermelon!  Oh I was so excited to have my first piece of the season!

Picture 079

It was so juicy and delicious, it made me want the hot weather even more.  I hear this weird weather might only last 7-10 more days and then we might actually have  summer weather soon.   On the news they were talking about this June vs. June 2008.  The average temp last year for the first half of June was 85, this year it’s 72!  In 2008 we had 4 days that were over 90, and this year we had 4 days UNDER 60!  Does not sound like summer weather to me!  I’m hoping these weathermen are right, I need to get some beach days in!

I hope you are all having a great night!

Too Fast

This weekend flew right by me!  After I posted Friday night (early Saturday morning really), I went right to bed.  I woke up pretty early and felt the beginnings of a nasty sinus headache.  Apparently my 3 glasses of wine aggravated my allergies.  After doing some research online I realized that there is a pretty good link between wine and sinuses.  I knew that drinking 3 glasses could not have kept me in bed until 4:30 yesterday afternoon but was surprised at how ill I felt.  Luckily I did feel much better around 4:30 and went to a friend’s college graduation party.  It was a lot of fun and I stuck to water (and lots and lots of it, probably 5 or 6 bottles worth) to combat the dehydration from the decongestants I had taken earlier in the day.

This morning I woke up feeling 100% better and won’t be drinking any wine for a while, just to keep that from happening again.   I had a gigantic bowl of cereal this morning.

Picture 038

365 high fiber and kashi island vanilla mixed with skim milk, what a perfect bowl of cereal!

After breakfast we hung around the house, and then got ready to go to the movies.  We had decided to catch a matinee of The Hangover.  Oh my, I am so happy we went!  It was so funny, I’m kinda considering seeing it again.  Did anyone else see and love this movie as much as I did?

We did get some popcorn to share but it was obviously to dark to snap a picture of it.  After the movies we had some errands to run and then went to my parents house for dinner.  We had my usual Sunday night Favorite.  Roast Beef, with Mashed Potatoes, and Broccoli!

 Picture 039 Picture 041

Picture 040

All together:

Picture 042

Perfect as usual!

I know I once again skipped a meal, but to be honest I slept kinda late today, and I ate some popcorn so although I should have planned ahead better for lunch, I’m happy I didn’t go hours without eating, although something more nutritious would have been nice.

I’m off to do a few things before bed time!  Let’s hope Monday flies by!

180 Degrees

I don’t know if it was the whole “fake it until you make it” from yesterday, or if  I’m finally back to my normal eating routine, or if it’s the fact that it’s my Friday, but I am in a much better mood today.  I don’t know if I come across this way on the blog, but I am usually a very happy-go-lucky person, especially around friends and families.  It’s kind of impossible to have a serious conversation with me because I’m always joking around, and today I finally feel like I’m getting back to that.  Again I have to credit you guys because of your kind words.  Andrew was reading through my comments from the past few posts today and kept saying how nice everyone was, and how supportive you guys really are.  He didn’t have to tell me that though I’ve known that since day one.

I had another successful eating day!  Planning ahead has definitely helped, tomorrow will be the real test though because I’ll be home all day.  I feel like when I am forced to eat at work on schedule I do much better, it’s definitely something I need to work on for the weekends.  For the most part my choices are healthy but my eating is sporadic, my goal for the weekend is to eat on my normal schedule from during the week and see how that works for me.

For breakfast I relied on my favorite go-to food.  Chobani of course.  I had a vanilla chobani with Kashi Vanilla mini wheats.

Picture 020

Picture 021

Such a delicious combo.  I’m absolutely in love with this cereal.

Lunch was a pretty great, and I was looking forward to one component of it pretty much right after I finished my breakfast.  While shopping the other night I bought some sliced deli chicken, I put 2 slices (it’s pretty thick) and spicy brown mustard on a “Deli Flat”.

Picture 022

See the slight green in the upper right corner.  That was the part I was looking forward to, it was of course another one of my favorite pickles.

Picture 023

I will never get tired of those pickles. Oh and Laura that pen is totally the swag (stuff we all get) from the bridal show last week, new favorite pen, peace out purple advair pen.

Picture 024

Such a simple but perfect lunch.

And for a snack around 3 I had a braeburn apple.  God I missed these, and they were on sale the other day so you know I picked up a few.

Picture 025

Ok for all of you in the Northeast, what is up with this weather?  I’m so sick of fog, rain, and cold.  It’s almost the middle of June where’s my sunshine and 80 degree temps?  Ugh.  This weather is making me crave some serious comfort food, so I decided to have a quick bowl of angel hair pasta.

Picture 028

I was going to make a salad but really wasn’t feeling it, so instead I just chopped up a green pepper and some cucumber on the side for some crunch and green.

Picture 029

Yum yum yum.

All together:

Picture 030

This looks like I ate around 9:30 because of the lighting but it’s just so dark here, I ate around 6:30 but you’d never guess.

After dinner I drank some unpictured coffee, and watched some trash tv.  I have a lot to catch up on.  Who else watched this week’s Real Housewives of NJ?  Ok for real, how is next week already the finale?  I’m sad but at the same time I’m so looking forward to the episode!  I also watched Kathy Griffin’s Life on the D List, am I the only maniac in blogland who absolutely loves this show?  I laugh until I cry and rewind parts over and over again, that Kathy is a very funny lady.  If I could fly out to LA and be her assistant I’d be the happiest girl in the world.

What is your guilty pleasure tv show?

Well I’m off to watch other shows I have DVRed and haven’t had time to watch, I hope you all have a great night, and I’m hoping all your Friday’s go by quickly.

I’m Back!

Thanks for all the comments about my mom.  She came home Sunday and is healing and recovering perfectly.  Her appendix hadn’t ruptured so the surgery was pretty simple and not really invasive, here’s a little blurb I found online about the type of surgery she got:

The laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgical technique involves making several tiny cuts in the abdomen and inserting a miniature camera and surgical instruments. As many as three or four incisions are made. The surgeon then removes the appendix with the instruments, so there is usually no need to make a large incision in the abdomen. The camera projects a magnified image of the area onto a television monitor which helps guide the surgeons as they remove the appendix.

They actually sent her home with pictures of her appendix before they removed it.  It’s so weird.  She’s happy to be home and was touched by your comments, thoughts, and prayers.

I really missed blogging but to be honest my meals were far from “blog worthy”, too much convenience food for sure.  I stepped on the scale positive I gained a pound but luckily I stayed the same.  Time to kick my butt into gear.  I feel like I’m stuck in a rut, and plan to correct that soon.  I am pulling out some cookbooks and looking for some fun new recipes to try out because I feel like every week I’m eating the same thing and I’m getting bored with it.  I really need to refocus on eating better and exercising more often, the weather has been nice in the mornings when I’m leaving for work and I think I need to get out of bed early and get a run or walk in bright and early so I don’t have any excuses, I just need to make myself a morning person.

For breakfast this morning I had the usual Chobani and a Heart Thrive Energy Bar

Picture 003

Picture 002

I picked that package up (the flavor was Raisin Spice) when I was at the hospital Sunday afternoon and absolutely loved it, unfortunately that’s the only place I’ve ever seen them so I might be sneaking into the hospital coffee shop to pick them up every so often.  The flavor was perfect and they are very dense.

The nutrition facts are pretty great!

RaisinHTNutr

INGREDIENTS

OATS, BROWN RICE SYRUP, RAISINS, BROWN RICE FLOUR, SOY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, SOY FLOUR, RICE BRAN, INULIN (CHICORY ROOT EXTRACT), NATURAL FRUIT JUICE, DRIED PLUMS, DRIED APPLES, DRIED PEARS, CALCIUM CITRATE, CINNAMON, NUTMEG.

Lunch today was pretty boring I had a sandwich Thin, this is a recycled picture, I forgot to take a picture of my lunch, I did not have an orange but a Mcintosh apple that a co-worker gave to me.  He brought a whole bag in and put it in our fridge and told us to help ourselves, so I of course did, I wound up cutting a few slices of apple and placing it one of the halves.  I wish I had some granola to sprinkle on, but I’m all out.

Picture 001

This did not stick with me long by 2 I was hungry luckily I started to put bars in my purse for those more snacky days.  Something I should have been doing all along but oh well.

Picture 006

Favorite bar ever!  I need to restock because I’m pretty sure that was my last one.

Dinner tonight was an easy one, I had plans to go on a walk with my friend Jessica, so I wanted something fast.  I used my last piece of ww naan and made a pineapple, meatless meatball pizza.  A flavor combo I’ll never get sick of.

Picture 009

Picture 007

Naan bread is the perfect size for a personal pizza.

In fun news I just bought a new phone Sunday night.  I’m officially addicted to my blackberry.

blackberry-curve-8830-pink

I couldn’t get a good picture of it, but this is the exact one I got.  Look familiar?  Rose just got the same one as well. I don’t know how I ever functioned without it.

Well I’m off to snuggle and watch tv, see you tomorrow!

Too Much Fun?

Wow I really disappeared huh?

First of all your comments were all so sweet, thanks for all the congratulatory comments on our engagement!  I was so excited to share that news with you guys and your comments all made me smile from ear to ear.

I enjoyed the last day of vacation on Saturday and then Sunday we were in the car alllll day I took pictures of my eats but really don’t feel like recapping 4 days worth of food.  Sunday after 8 hours in the car we were exhausted, we stopped by Andrew’s aunts house to see his family.  They were all so happy for us, his family is fabulous and I’m very lucky to feel loved and welcomed by them.

Once we returned from his Aunt’s house we unpacked a little and then crawled into bed I was passed out shortly after 9, driving (for 3 hours this time!) and sitting in the car was so draining.  Unfortunately I woke up at 3 in the morning with the worst pain in both my ears and my throat was completely swollen.  I had a feeling I had “swimmer’s ear”.  I was thisclose to going to the ER but talked myself out of it by reasoning that by the time I was even treated by the ER my doctor’s office would be open and I could save myself the $275 bucks.  I fell back to sleep around 5, then woke up at 6:30 in even more pain.  My doctor’s office was closed since it was Memorial day but the walk-in clinic they are affiliated with opened at 8.  I woke Andrew up and asked him to go to the doctors with me, and we both sleepily walked out the door, I locked the apartment door behind me before I thought to check that Andrew had keys.  Well he didn’t and we were locked out I started crying instantly I just wanted to get to the doctors and start feeling better.  I called my dad and he saved the day with the extra key we gave them just last week.  Talk about good timing, considering I’ve lived here for 2 years and I just thought to give my mom an extra key while we were on vacation.  Weird.

So I get to the walk-in clinic and luckily got right in to see the doctor.  Turns out I have a double ear infection and a throat infection!  Are you kidding me?!  It hurt so badly all day but luckily today I was feeling better and was able to go to work.  I could not believe that I got so sick literally overnight but with the ear drops and antibiotics I’m already on my way to healthy.

The only thing that really sucked was because of the pain in my ears an throat I missed out on some delicious Memorial Day BBQing.  Yesterday all I ate was a hot dog roll and an Italian Ice.  Eating just wasn’t an option but that Italian Icee was better then any of the medicine I got for some instant relief.  Everything I chewed hurt so I just gave up.  Today although I was able to eat because of the throat infection everything either doesn’t have a taste at all or tastes down right disgusting.  I forced myself to eat a little more because obviously I can’t exist solely on buns and Ice’s.

This morning for breakfast I had something I found on vacation!

Picture 011

I should have saved it until I could actually say whether or not it tasted good, but the texture heated up was easy enough to chew and swallow.  Oh, the “that’s what she saids” I could throw into this post.

For lunch I went with something also easy to eat.

Picture 013

This tasted absolutely disgusting to me, I knew it was just because of being sick but both these items were waging war on my tastebuds.  Ick.  Even drinking water after this tasted wretched.

Later on I was obviously still hungry so I went with another soft bar.

Picture 014

This is an example of something that had absolutely no taste to me what-so-ever.

For dinner I was trying to think of things that were soft and tasted neutral enough to not inflict the nasty taste.  I settled on eggs and cheesy toast.

Picture 026

I had 2 scrambled eggs, (another example of no taste), 1 sandwich thin with mozz cheese, and one with mexican blend.  The mozz one had no taste but the mexican blend tasted disgusting.  I took one bite and was literally chugging water to get rid of the taste.

I got some exciting mail today though!  I won a giveaway on Erin’s blog, and was lucky enough to recieve some fun products from Doctor Kracker.

Just look at all the flavors of crackers I got!

Picture 016

Picture 017

Picture 018 Picture 019

Picture 020

I can’t wait to dig into these but want to save them until I can taste them!  Thanks so much Erin for giving me the opportunity to try these products!

Well I’m off to get drops in my ears and chug some cough medicine.  Have a great night!

Oh and just a note I haven’t really been commenting I have way too many blogs to catch up on but just know I’m reading and hope to get back to my usual commenting self soon.

Catching Up

First off don’t forget about My First Giveaway you still have 2 days to enter!

Sorry I disappeared yesterday, I’ve been trying to enjoy vacation now that I’ve only got 4 days left.  This week is just flying by!  It’s been a lot of fun though and we’ve pretty much done everything we wanted to do while here except for one more thing that we’re planning on doing tomorrow night.  Other then that it’s going to be a lot more relaxing on the beach, by the pool, and some bike riding thrown in.

After posting the other day we had dinner of spaghetti and meatballs.  It was a cold rainy afternoon so it worked out perfectly.

DSCF4290

I also had a side salad of romaine and cucs.

DSCF4293

With some of that light balsamic that’s peaking over the bowl.

Later on Geoffrey came out to play.  I had no idea hermit crabs were nocturnal but they definitely are once the sun goes down they come out to play.  For the past 2 nights we’ll go to bed and hear Geoffrey moving around, in the morning we’ll see that rearranged all his things in his cage.

Later on while watching TV Andrew, my parents, and I all split a 100 calorie bag of popcorn.

DSCF4306

The next morning we woke up and I had a smoothie that contained skim milk, pom juice, high fiber cereal, raspberries, blueberries, banana, and pb.

DSCF4312

After breakfast Andrew and I went on a quick 6 mile bike ride to the neighboring town of Duck, NC.

 DSCF4316

It was a windy day but bike riding was a good option for something to do outside.

DSCF4313

Once we got back we ate a quick lunch.  I had a random mix of things I found in the fridge.

I had  1/2 an Arnold Sandwich thin with a string cheese to make a piece of super cheesy bread.

DSCF4319

I also had left over rice from the other night.

DSCF4320

And for some crunch I had 1/2 a green pepper.

DSCF4321

All together:

DSCF4322

Later on we did a little more shopping (I actually bought nothing!)  But Andrew did buy some local made fudge and I of course helped him eat some of it.

DSCF4324

Absolutely delicious!

For dinner last night we had some home made burgers.

DSCF4329

On the side I had some Food Should Taste Good Tortilla chips.

DSCF4330

We also had some corn we picked up from a local stand.

DSCF4332

I of course had another apple cider on the side.

DSCF4331

We went to bed pretty early last night and I was excited to wake up and see the sun shining bright.  It was still a little windy but it was a good day to lay out in the sun and go in the hot tub.  I had some cereal and yogurt for breakfast.

DSCF4333 DSCF4334

We spent the morning out in the sun before we decided to take a short drive to Manteo for lunch and to walk around.

We ate lunch at a 50’s style diner, it was so cute.

DSCF4344

DSCF4345

DSCF4347

There wasn’t many choices unless I wanted something fried or another burger, so I played it safe with a grilled chicken sandwich.

DSCF4349

Then we walked around the very scenic town of Manteo.

DSCF4352

DSCF4356

DSCF4363

I’m a rebel and climbed to the top even though it was blocked off.

We came back to the house and the wind had died down enough to swim and I stayed in the pool for an hour or so before we had to get ready to go to dinner.  We went to a restaurant we really enjoyed last year and decided to visit again.

I decided to get the St. Lucia Chicken because I had that last year and loved it, and even though I had a chicken for lunch I decided to have it again because it was something really really good.

After ordering some really delicious bread came out.

And not long after our dinners came out.

I ate one piece of chicken, most of the beans and about 1/2 the rice.  I brought the one piece of chicken home to eat for lunch tomorrow or Friday.

Well that’s everything up till now!  I’m going to try to update tomorrow so I don’t have to do a marathon post like this again!  Hope you are all having a fabulous week, see you tomorrow!

$5 Footlong…

ZAand it wasn’t from Subway.  But we’ll get to that.

Yesterday was spent like any first day of vacation, hanging out by the pool, going to old favorite spots from the last time we were here, and of course napping.

For breakfast yesterday I had a cereal/yogurt mess.  It included vanilla chobani, 365 high fiber cereal, and Kashi Island Vanilla shredded wheat.

There is yogurt under there somewhere.

Then it was swimming time.  We hung out in the pool for most of the day.

Even Bailey enjoyed her time by the pool.

Here’s a picture Andrew snuck of me enjoying the sun.

I went in the hot tub for like 2 minutes but it was way to warm I felt like I was boiling in a soup pot.

After swimming and sunning we were hungry and we decided to go to one of our favorite local hamburger/hot dog joint.

Last year when we here for 2 weeks (oh and by the way “here” is the Outerbanks.  I didn’t realize I never said where we were until Caroline asked), and we came like 4 times. The chili dogs here are the best I ever had, and we had been talking about going again since my parents booked the trip.  And I decided to have the special of the day a $5 footlong with fries and a drink.  Actually my entire family and Andrew had the special.  Go big or go home right?

I ate and loved every bite.   Spankys is a cute little place that has monkey’s just about everywhere.

Once we came back it was raining so we hung out on the screened in porch until the rain stopped and we went right back in the pool.  Then it looked like rain again so we came in and I fell asleep for a couple hours.

After I woke up refreshed and ready for to do some food shopping.  As soon as we got back I made myself a big salad and was going to have a pb sandwich on the side but wasn’t that hungry, that footlong really filled me up.

It was romaine and cucs with Newman’s Own balsamic vinaigrette.

This morning we thought we would be waking up to rain but luckily it was sunny until early afternoon, we went for an early morning swim, and then I attempted to catch up on your blogs.  Once everyone was up and showered and dressed we went out to breakfast.  We went to a buffet called Western Sizzlin’.

I got a little of everything.

First to attempt to eat some healthy food I had some fruit.

Then I had a big plate of all the breakfast goodies.

A French toast stick ( I went back for a couple more of these).

I also had some homefries, bacon, a biscuit, and eggs.

There’s a piece of toast under there but then saw the biscuits and decided to eat the biscuit and not eat the toast.  I can’t remember the last time I had a biscuit and I can have toast any time.

Breakfast was of course wonderful, and then I did some super secret shopping, you’ll read about it soon enough (HINT giveaway tomorrow).

After returning back to the house we did some more swimming and then it started to pour.  We’re inside now, but as soon as I post this we have some more shopping to do.

Hope you are all having a fabulous Sunday!
