Cranky Pants

Wasn’t it just the other day that I was talking about how I am in such a good mood when the weather is nicer.  I don’t know what my problem is today, I just felt off.  I wasn’t hungry for anything and I seem to get this way a few times a month, no appetite, terrible mood, and just a general cranky feeling.  I know with the weather being so hot and everything in bloom my sinuses have been a little crazy, and although it’s not a full blown sinus headache I definitely feel the pressure.  All I wanted to do today was come home and go to sleep.

Today’s title should really be DON’T Eat Like Me.

For breakfast this morning I planned on having Vanilla Chobani with puffins, I knew once I got to work to not even waste the puffins because there was no way I was going to eat the whole container.

Picture 001

I was right I ate maybe half the container and then into the garbage it went.

I started to feel really fatigued so I ran out at lunch time to Dunkin Donuts to grab an iced coffee.

Picture 007

Medium iced coffee with skim milk and splenda.  While I was there I picked up a multigrain bagel lightly tossed with a tiny bit of butter.  They actually listened to me and put about the amount I would put on it.

Picture 004

I ate in my car because I was so cranky I couldn’t stand the idea of going back in to work.

Around 2:30 I realized I needed some fruit so I grabbed an orange.

Picture 008

In the middle of the orange was a baby orange!

Picture 012

Too cute, that made me smile for about 30 seconds.

After work I came right home and wallowed in my crankiness.  I didn’t even know what I wanted for dinner so I didn’t start cooking until I felt some hunger kick in.  Getting off the couch felt like such a chore.  I finally made myself put some water to boil on the stove and had my go to comfort meal of pasta.  I had whole wheat angel hair with too much sauce.

Picture 015

Picture 016

I would guess this is close to a serving size but somehow my kitchen scale melted and won’t turn on.  Of course it did why wouldn’t it?

I’m off to drink a tall glass of water (it’s 85 in my apartment right now and we don’t have the AC’s in yet.)  And watch some more trashy tv.

Hope you all have a great night and don’t forget tomorrow is Hump Day!  We’re getting close to the weekend.

88 Degrees

It was 88 degrees here today!  I couldn’t believe how hot it got but could not have been happier!  I love that smell that summer has, I love the feeling of the sun beating down on me, I love the way the ocean shimmers, the way the sea breeze comes through my windows in the morning.  Summer is my favorite time of year by far.  When other people complain it’s hot I’m usually enjoying it and relishing in the heat.  Of course some days when it’s 90% humidity I’m uncomfortable but for the most part I can’t get enough.  I’m the kind of person who can lay out in the sun all day long while everyone around me is hiding in the shade or staying cool in the AC.  I’m a whole different person in the summer then in the winter, I’m just genuinely happier.  So I hope my posts continue to reflect my good mood.  I know there were quite a few posts in the winter where I was such a complainer.

This morning I had a Luna bar before heading out for a walk.

Picture 001

Picture 002

What took me so long to try these?  They are fantastic, I still prefer clif bars but these are a very close second.

Remember those flowers I was going to plant?  Yeah Andrew did it while I farted around on the internet.

Picture 004

Parlsey and sweet basil, can’t wait to use these.  I also have some spinach to plant.

And here are some flowers before they were planted.

Picture 006

Snap dragons, the spinach, and some other annuals, I forget what we got, they were a 1.88 at Lowes last night and that’s really the only reason we got them.

By the time we got out on the trail it was already hot, I think it was almost 10.  Andrew kindly took some more pictures of the trail this morning for me.

Picture 009

Picture 011

Picture 016

Someone informed me these are called Sea Geese, they look like ducks to me, but I have absolutely no clue if he was correct or not.  Okay, he didn’t inform me, he told his kid and I overheard.

Picture 023

Picture 025

I swear Andrew would make an awesome paparazzi he always takes pictures of me walking for no reason what-so-ever and I never even notice until I look at the camera.

By the time we were done walking it was almost 12 so we decided to count our bars for breakfast and get deli bagel sandwiches.

I got grilled chicken breast with fresh mozzarella and balsamic vinegar on a whole grain bagel.

Picture 029

I can’t describe how good this was, I expected deli sliced chicken not a big juicy grilled piece.  It really was amazing and I ate 3/4’s of it.  Afterwards we went shopping for a birthday present for Andrew’s grandma, (we’re very last minute), we grabbed a beautiful hanging flower arrangement and I also got an Iced D&D coffee.

Picture 031

Andrew is clearly a creep.  And his arms aren’t that white anymore, they are bright red.  He’s my lobster. (Friends anyone?)

We hung out with his family for a few hours and then were headed back to my parents to spray paint our table.  It wasn’t dry when we left so I don’t have an after shot but I have plenty of pictures of it in process.

Picture 034

Picture 036

I’m a graffiti artist!

Picture 042

I’ll make sure to take some pictures when I go to get it tomorrow.  Oh and do you see that pink thing on the garbage can in the background?  That’s my cell phone, it now has brown spots on it because I’m an idiot.

So we once again ate dinner at my parents tonight (and spoiler alert I will be tomorrow too!)  We had turkey burgers and kettle chips!  Perfect summer food!

Picture 044

Mine was about 4 ounces (we got a one lb package and split it into 4 but didn’t have a scale at my parents house so I may be a little off.)  With Monterey jack cheese, a pickle, and some onions.

Picture 045

Then I had another pickle:

Picture 048

And then a bite of an extra hot dog.

Picture 049

Well I’m off to try to catch up on my blog reading!  Hope you all had a great weekend and I can’t wait to read what you have all been up to!

Brinner Makes It Better

Well I successfully got 8 hours of sleep last night but as you can see it’s already after 10, I don’t actually have to be asleep until 10:45 for it to be a full 8 hours but I know how long it takes me to wind down and get to sleep.  I’m hoping I can rush it along and still get my 8 hours!

This morning I woke up refreshed and ready for the day I decided to make a smoothie for breakfast.  It was delicious.  I ran out of POM juice and I really think that’s what was giving my smoothies the bright colors and really enhanced the taste.  I will certainly be picking up more of it soon if only for my smoothies!

Picture 002

Looks like cement doesn’t it?  This smoothie contained:

  • a couple cups of spinach
  • skim milk
  • 1 scoop soy protein powder
  • blueberries
  • peaches
  • 1 banana

Really delicious but definitely missed the POM and the color was a little unappetizing.

For lunch today I had the slice of free white pizza from last night.

Picture 004

Is it possible this tasted better because it was free?  I ate all of it except the crust.

For a snack later on I ate the other 1/2 of the peanuts from yesterday but totally forgot to take a picture.

I had some errands to run today after work so I decided to have a quick and easy brinner.

3 pieces of turkey sausage, a bagel (the bagels I have been eating are from Costco, 2 sleeves of 6 for 5 bucks!)  and 1 egg scrambled.

Picture 006

Picture 007

Yummy, a few times during Lent Andrew had turkey sausage and I was craving it badly today once again I gave in to the cravings for meat.  There’s one more thing on my list of things I want to eat now that Lent is over, turkey burgers!  I plan on having one on Friday when the temperature is going to be 70!  Perfect night for a bbq!  Also that night we’re having our friends over for our first night out on our deck this season!  So exciting!

Tomorrow is my new Friday so my sister is coming to sleep over since she’s on spring break.  Then Friday I plan on spending as much time outside as I can.  What are your plans for this weekend?

As always have a fabulous night!!!!!!

Free Pizza and Extra Zzz’s

What a crummy day.  It’s been raining since I woke up this morning, and it’s been cold and windy, definitely the kind of day you just want to stay in bed and read or watch some trashy tv.  But I hear it’s going to be a gorgeous weekend here (in the 70s!) so let’s get this rain out of the way before the weekend!

For breakfast this morning I continued with the bagel/pb combo, today though I had a cinnamon raisin bagel.

Picture 002

Delicious it reminded me that I have a jar of PB&Co cinnamon raisin in my cabinet, so I’ll definitely be breaking that out again soon!

For lunch today I had the other 1/2 of my Chicken Fajita wrap.

Picture 003

Picture 004

As I took my first bite I realized this side had a ton of cheese and whatever it was I wasn’t a fan so I deconstructed this into a bowl and left the cheese to the side.  It was still a great lunch but next time I ordered it (which I totally will) I would get it without the cheese.  They already had to make it special for me because it had a sour cream (yuck) based dressing so removing one more item shouldn’t be too much to ask.

Around 3 I started to get super hungry.  I don’t know why I don’t bring snacks for the days I need them but for real I knew I wasn’t going to make it until I got home so I ran to the vending machine and got some peanuts.  The only decent choice from the vending machine in my office.

Picture 006

Yum and I still have 1/2 the bag left for the next time my hunger strikes.

Do any of you keep any snacks at your desk at work?  What do you keep in your snack stash, I need some ideas!

As I’ve mentioned Andrew had given up pizza for lent and I knew he had been craving it for a while now, so we decided to meet at a local pizzeria when I got out of work.  I got 2 slices, 1 white, and 1 sausage and pepper.

Picture 007

Right after I took a few bites the guy who worked behind the counter brought me another slice because he felt bad that there were some burnt spots (I actually enjoyed the crispy parts) and he insisted on giving me another slice to take home.  Who is going to turn down a free slice of pizza?  Not this girl!  You’ll see it for my lunch tomorrow.

Picture 008

Clearly I started eating this slice before I realized I forgot to take a picture, it was super thin sausage slices and there were only about 4 on the whole slice but it gave the slice such a great flavor.  I think I’m getting a little burnt out on eating so much meat already though and I’m ready to relax and eat it more infrequently like I used to.

As soon as we got home I got into bed and watched some Real Housewives of NYC and tried to get warm. I am so ready to feel 70 degrees this weekend, it’s like I forget what it feels like to be warm.

Well I have some emails to respond to and I’m hoping to fall asleep by 10.  Melissa at Run, Eat, Repeat is trying to get 8 hours of sleep every night for the next 30 nights.  I know I could the extra Zzz’s so I’ll be following in her footsteps.  Wish me luck!

Carnivore

Sorry I didn’t post for Easter, but I hope that if you celebrate it you had a fabulous day!  I had a lot of family fun with both my family and Andrew’s.

Easter morning we woke up and it was sunny so we decided to take a walk on the trail.  It looked so warm out but unfortunately it was freezing, we only wound up walking for about 30 minutes because the wind was so strong and I was an icicle . My right inner ear was so irritated by the cold and wind we turned back and left. Common sense would have told me that if it was a little windy at our apartment chances are walking along the water would be super cold.  Lesson learned.  As much as I want it to be summer it’s not yet and I still have to dress for the weather.

Once returning I laid on the couch whining about my ear while Andrew cooked up some Easter breakfast.  We had turkey bacon (meat!!!) and scrambled egg bagel sandwiches!

Picture 001

3 slices of turkey bacon and 2 scrambled eggs on a whole wheat bagel.  So delicious.

After not eating meat for 47 days it felt really weird eating the bacon, and actually to be honest I felt a little queasy afterwards but there was plenty more meat to follow during the day.

We first went to my parents house where I got my Easter basket.  The Easter bunny (mom) waited until the last minute so there were no Easter candies, just regular reese’s pb cups (my favorite candy), Mounds, kit kats, and the newest Danielle Steel novel.  Does anyone else read her books?  I’ve read them all, my dad insists my mom named me after her, my mom denies it.  I kind of side with my dad on that one.

After hanging out with my family for a couple hours we went to Andrew’s grandma’s house.  I had a small slice of lasagna while we were there.  It was yummy but there’s no picture.  I’m sure you all know what lasagna looks like though.

Around 5 we headed back to my parents house for dinner.  Usually my parents make lamb, the smell of it cooking makes me gag.  Since I’d been meatless for all of lent my dad suggested we get Prime Rib.  I definitely liked that idea since we only have it once a year on Christmas and I love it.   So we had Prime Rib (super rare for me), asparagus, and mashed potatoes.  I ate about 1/2 of that piece of prime meat that you see, all the mashed potatoes (plus another spoonful) and of course all the asparagus.

Picture 006

After dinner we watched The Tale of Despereaux that my sister got in her Easter basket. It was a pretty cute movie.

And I had a small piece of Cheesecake for dessert.  My favorite dessert by far.

Picture 007

It looks like a pretty big slice but that’s a dessert plate if that puts it into perspective for you.

We eventually made it back to our apartment where I fell into a food coma and passed out.

I woke up this morning starving and pretty much the second I got to work I smeared some pb on a honey whole wheat bagel.

Picture 010

Hit the spot!

For lunch I had a Chicken fajita wrap from Green Leafs.  It was delicious!

Picture 012

There was no description of it so I asked the woman behind the counter what was on it, she told me grilled chicken, grilled peppers and onions, and some sour cream based dressing.  I loathe sour cream so I got it without that, but she failed to mention there was a ton of jalepenos, and some kind of cheese.  Regardless it was really good.  I ate 1/2 and left the other 1/2 at work and plan on having that tomorrow for lunch.

For a snack at work I had 2 Mounds candies.

Picture 013

Mmm is there anything better then dark chocolate and coconut?

Once I got home Andrew and I decided to go for a walk, we went to the trail and walked for 1 hour 17 minutes and burned 574 calories.  Not too bad, it was a beautiful night for a walk.

I’m giving in to all my meat cravings now that I can have it and we decided to have tacos.

Picture 015

Lettuce, peppers, extra lean meat, and onions. It looks like a lot of meat but it was about 3 ounces, there’s a ton more lettuce underneath as well.

So obviously I have began eating meat again.  Although I really had an easier time then I thought for Lent, I definitely don’t see me being a complete vegetarian anytime soon.  I definitely enjoyed the experience and loved a lot of the “meatless” products that I will still continue to enjoy.   And although I’m going a little crazy with meat, and expect to for the rest of the week since I’m so excited to be eating it, and I’m eating everything I missed during Lent I’m sure it will taper back to down to just once or twice a week as it was before Lent.

To be completely honest I didn’t think I’d be able to do it, I was sure I’d cave in and eat chicken or taste something of Andrew’s at least once.  I’m proud to say I had not tasted meat since February 24th.  Sometimes it was hard but for the most part it wasn’t too bad.   Thanks for all your support during Lent and always!

Time to go watch The Mets!  Anyone else here a Mets fan!?

Easter Eve

I loved Easter as a child, dying the Easter Eggs, watching The 10 Commandments, waking up to find the Easter eggs hidden around the house, and all the goodies in my Easter basket!  I still love Easter and although I didn’t dye any Easter eggs tonight I am watching The Ten Commandments with Andrew.  I want to get back to the movie so I’m going to get right to the eats.

After my post yesterday we accomplished almost everything on the list done.  A few things got pushed aside to another day but we got so much accomplished I don’t mind one bit.  For dinner I made pizza, with a boboli whole wheat crust.  I used sauce, mozzarella cheese and spinach.

Picture 065

I put the spinach under the cheese and I think it tasted great, there was a ton though that you can’t really see.  After dinner we showered and got ready to go out with some friends to a local Irish Bar.  I stuck to water all night though.

It was pouring this morning and I wound up sleeping until 8:30, we got up and went to Costco with my dad to pick up a few things.  On the way to my parents house I had a chocolate brownie zbar.

Picture 069

After Costco I had to go to the chiropractor.  Once we returned to my parents house we hung out with my sister while my parents went shopping.  I had a honey ww bagel with some pb.

Picture 070

My mom gave me the last of the baked ziti from the other night so after we came back to the apartment I had that for dinner.

Picture 076

My batteries were going dead so this picture came out blurry sorry.

While watching The Ten Commandents I decided to have dessert.  I had vanilla fro yo with chocolate chips and pb!  It was so yummy!

Picture 079

I melted 1 tbsp of pb in the microwave then poured in on top of the fro yo and then placed in back in the freezer to become like a shell on it.  My friend and I used to do this in high school all the time, it’s a super yummy treat.

Well I’m going to get back to the movie!  I’m very excited for tomorrow because not only is it Easter but I get to eat meat again.  I’ll talk more about my experience of giving up meat for lent tomorrow, I am definitely glad I did it, but I’m excited to have some turkey bacon for breakfast tomorrow.

Weekend Wrap Up

What a fun weekend I had!  If every weekend had weather this nice, and as many good times I would be a very happy and lucky lady.  I got to spend a lot of time with my grandparents which is why I didn’t blog yesterday also got to spend a few more hours with them this morning before they left to go back to the Poconos.  I hope you all had a fabulous weekend as well!

After such a fun weekend I’m exhausted so I’m going to try to make this a quick post.

Yesterday I was running late because we had a small problem with the faucet in the bathroom not turning off that I was trying to take care of.  I grabbed a clif bar as I was running out of the house for my Doctors appointment.

Picture 002

Delicious as usual.

After the doctor’s and visiting the assisted living with my grandparents I got a smoothie.

Picture 056

I got one with Mango, pineapple, non-fat yogurt, and protein powder.  Luckily there was no allergic reaction to it yesterday and it was delicious.

For dinner we ate at my parents we ordered chinese food and I decided to get vegeterian chow mein.  It was disgusting.

Picture 003

I wound up eating some broccoli with garlic sauce mostly, but didn’t eat much of that either.  Disappointing.

Later after leaving my parents house we came home to the apartment and met our friend Mike here to hang out.  We spent the night looking up houses in Florida, watching YouTube videos, and talking.  Have I mentioned I want to move somewhere warmer?  I know the weather is getting nice but I just realize how much the winters affect my mood and I need to get to somewhere warm.

Picture 005

My wine was in a very special Secret Service glass from my Aunt Suzy for Christmas last year.  It was a raspberry wine and it was so good.  I definitely drank more then this amount, a lot more.  After the week I had, I decided to relax a little and enjoy the wine though.

Mike was hungry so I offered some Popchips to him as long as he would allow me to put his pictures trying them on the blog.

Here’s Mike admiring the bag:

Picture 008

Now here’s Mike tasting it:

Picture 009

But did he like it?

Picture 010

Thumbs up!  He tried the orginal and I had a few as well, we wound up dipping them in salsa which was really good.

See Andrew in the background carrying a bowl?  He so lovingly shared his leftovers from Friday night’s dinner with me.  I gladly ate up some of his Rigatoni Pomadora, I was starving since dinner was a such a mess earlier on.  I didn’t take a picture of the rigatoni I completely forgot (too much wine).  I really didn’t have that much, but for the 13 dollar dinner to get 3 meals out of it was really good.

This morning I got up and got dressed to make it back to my parents to say goodbye to my grandparents they wound up sticking around for a few hours so I actually got to spend a good amount of time with them.  I had a cinnamon raisin bagel toasted with a little butter.

downsized_0405090947

Sorry for the crappy cellphone picture.

After my grandparents left Andrew and I went to the gym, it was such a nice day we decided to just do some weights there and take advantage of the nice weather and do our cardio outside.  While doing the weights I burned 225 calories in the half hour we were there.  Then we headed back towards the apartment, my dad had told us they built a new trail in our town that went right along the water.  We decided to give that a try.  I wish I had my camera with me because it was a beautiful walk.  We walked and jogged for an hour, and wound up burning 434 calories, so 659 total with our 2 workouts.

After our walk we  hung out in the marina and walked around a little more then decided to go out for lunch at a little restaurant in the marina.  I got a potato pepper onion and egg sandwich on whole wheat toast.  I wound up deconstructing the sandwich and eating it just like normal scrambled eggs and eating the toast on the side.

0405091549

On the side you can also see the pickle Andrew so kindly gave to me from his burger.  1 more week until I can eat meat again and until today I haven’t really craved much red meat, chicken yes, red meat not usually.  His burger just looked so damn good I wanted it so badly!  I’ll definitely be having a burger sometime soon after next Sunday when Lent is over!

For dinner we decided to try spaghetti squash for the first time, with meatless meatballs on the side.  I’m so glad we tried the spaghetti squash it was delicious and we have so much left over.

Picture 024

Picture 022

I’ll definitely make this again!

Well before I head off to dreamland don’t forget tomorrow Meghann is having her 2nd Blogger bake sale!  I’ll be donating a loaf of this PB Banana bread with chocolate chips, I have modified the original recipe a little and am so excited to be able to donate this for her bake sale!  If you don’t know, Meghann is training to run the Rock n Roll San Diego Marathon in an effort to raise $3900 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. What an inspiration this girl is!   Tomorrow at 11am the bake sale begins, for all the rules and logistics visit her site here.

Good night everyone and have a great Monday!

Danielle Runs on Dunkin’

Sorry I didn’t post yesterday or comment on all of your blogs.  But thank you for all your kind comments.  I have so much on my mind but unfortunately I can’t share it here just yet.  This weekend was a tough one, I kept busy yesterday morning but then towards of the end of the day all the stress just hit me at once and I was crying on and off for a while.  It feels weird that I can’t discuss anything on here just yet, it’s like I’m keeping a secret from my best friend or something, because so far this year I’ve shared almost everything with you guys, and I know that if I could tell you all what was going on you’d be able to offer some advice and kind words, which I really need right now.

Since that’s really all I can say, I’ll just move on to this weekends eats.

Yesterday morning I had to go to the chiropractor with my mom so I stopped on my way to Dunkin Donuts I was craving Ice Coffee.

Picture 003

I also picked up a multigrain bagel and took it back to my mom’s house to quickly eat before we had to leave.  I used a small amount of butter on the bagel.

 Picture 004

I ate a little more then half and then we were on our to the chiropractor.  After our appointment we were on our way to check out an assisted living community for my grandparents.  It was a really nice place and after seeing the menu I was really hoping we’d get to have some lunch there.  Unfortunately we’d only get lunch if my grandparents came.  The place was really nice and I’m hoping my grandparents decide to come here because it’s right down the street from where I work and I’d definitely get to see them a lot more often, as they live in the Poconos right now, and I don’t get to see them as often as I’d like.

Once I returned to my parents I had the unfortunate chore of laundry (way too much laundry, it’s been a while oops.)  I had a piece of bread with pb since I was a little hungry.

Picture 052

On Andrew’s way home from work he stopped at Tropical Smoothie Cafe and got me the same smoothie I got a couple weeks ago.  After a few sips I started to feel really itchy, and my leg was breaking out in hives.  That’s the reaction I get to strawberries (which sucks because I love them), but the smoothie shouldn’t have strawberries in it, it didn’t taste like strawberries but I’m wondering if maybe the blender wasn’t properly cleaned between making mine and somebody else’s.  Once I stopped drinking it within 30 minutes I felt fine.  I only drank about a 1/4 of this gigantic smoothie but I figured I’d share a picture anyway.

Picture 055

Once I felt better we headed out to the gym. I was using the Lat Raise machine and an older guy just stood there watching me after one set he very rudely and loudly said “Are you going to be done with that soon?!”  Dude the gym is empty move on to another machine for a few minutes.  I told him I had more sets and he continued to stand there and watch me.  Creep.  Once I moved on I was setting the weights on another machine and someone asked me if I was using it, he said it a lot nicer so I let him use it first, but for real, the place was empty why was everyone trying to use whatever I wanted to?  Then we were in the movie theater and I was using a treadmill, as I said before my heart rate monitor transmits and displays on treadmills next to me, after running for a few minutes, the guy next to me yelled in front of everyone there, “Do you have a heart thing on or something!?”  Ugh so embarrassing I apolgizied and he said it was okay but he was only walking so of course my heart rate was higher and I guess it freaked him out a little.  What a day.

For dinner last night I had my leftover pizza from Friday.  I was literally craving it.

Picture 060

After dinner and moping around the house I got dressed and headed out to meet up with my friends, it was just what I needed to get my mind off of everything.  I drank some vodka and diet cokes, which probably helped as well, we got home around 12:30 and I read and went to bed.  I felt much better today then I did yesterday and got up and enjoyed a smoothie for breakfast.  After my incident yesterday I was craving a smoothie and was happy to finally have one.  It was a little overcast this morning but really warm so I enjoyed this out on the deck with Andrew.

Picture 061

Picture 062

This smoothie included:

  • 1 Scoop protein powder
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 a cup skim milk
  • blueberries
  • pineapples
  • 4 ounces POM juice
  • and 1tbsp pb

So yummy and just what I needed.  I love smoothies for breakfast!  After my smoothie we got dressed and ran some errands.  I was feeling extrememly tired so we stopped to get coffee and some food.  We decided to once again hit up Dunkin Donuts.  I got a medium coffee with skim milk and splenda, and a veggie flatbread sandwich.

Picture 069

Picture 067

The flatbread sandwich was just okay, a little bland, I wish I had some hot sauce for it, if I got it again I definitely would spice it up a little, it’s a good option if your out and about though.

After visiting with Andrew’s parents, sister, and grandma we headed home.  The sun had come out and it was beautiful I actually threw on some shorts and a t-shirt and sat outside on the deck reading, until a squirrel tried to join us and scared the crap out of me and sent me running back inside.  I’m a baby I know.   The sun went away as quickly as it had come out but we had already decided to have a bbq.

I had a veggie burger with a string cheese melted on top, with romaine lettuce, and pickles.

Picture 071

Picture 086

And also threw some sliced garnet yam on the grill for “chips”.

Picture 074

Picture 088

I think I liked them better grilled then baked, can’t wait to do this some more in the summer.

Now I’m going to spend some time catching up on my blog reading and then head off to bed.  Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

Time Flies…

When you’re having fun, and this was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time.  Between my birthday celebration last night and my trip to the city for the Blogger brunch today, it was full weekend, but a really great one!

Let’s start with my pictures from last night.

Before we went out to the bar, Laura and her fiancé Billy came over.  Somehow my favorite pickles became the topic of conversation and Laura wanted to try one.  I gave her my last one because I’m all for sharing the pickle love.  We of course took pictures.

Picture 001

Right before she tried it.

 picture-004

Chewing and taking in the flavors.  But did she like it?

Picture 005

Thumbs up!  She shared some with Billy who doesn’t even like pickles (how is that even possible?)  and he loved them too!

Picture 006

Then it was time for some presents, Andrew caved and gave me mine last night.  He got me two 5lb weights and a beginner’s yoga kit, which included a mat and dvd as well as some other accessories.

Can you tell I was excited to get the weights?

Picture 009

Laura had to give them a try.

I suppose they were too heavy for her.  After my friend Jessica and her boyfriend arrived and brought me some birthday balloons, we went off to the bar.  I drank way too much, but allowed myself to drink, since I’ve only drank one other time this year so far.  I drank diet coke and vodkas.

Laura ordered cheese nachos (that were super cheesy) but I gladly ate a few to help her out.

Picture 014

Andrew ordered Mozzarella sticks and I had a bite of one.

Here’s a picture of me and Andrew.

And here’s one of me Laura and Jessica.

Once I got home last night I fell right to sleep when my alarm went off this morning I was in no mood to get up but I had to get ready to leave for the blogger brunch!  We wound up taking the 10:25 train in, took 2 short sub way rides and arrived at Counter at 12:30 we walked around in the vicinity of the restaurant until 1.  Can I just say that I seriously have the sweetest boyfriend? He knew how nervous I was and took the train ride to the city with me, calmed me down when I was nervous about meeting everyone, and waited in a park for over 2 hours for me to be done with the brunch.  Thank you so much Andrew for being so amazing today and always!! I snacked on a couple bites of a bagel while waiting because in my rush in the morning I totally forgot to eat, (never thought I’d say that).   My head was pounding all morning between my sinuses and my drinking last night, so I was just kind of miserable, but the brunch definitely made me feel better!  Everyone was so super nice!  It was nice getting to talk and listen to people that I’ve read so much about.  I was kind of quiet between nerves and not feeling well though.

I ordered French Toast for my meal.

Picture 036

Do you see how thick that slice of bread in the back is? The french toast, I thought was just alright, which might have been a side effect of not feeling well so I ate the slice in the front and passed on some of the second slice to Mark and the rest to Sarah.  Mark agreed that it was just okay but I’m so glad I passed it off to Sarah because she seemed to really enjoy it!  Next time there’s any blogger event I hope to be able to talk more to both Sarah and Vani.  One thing I can say about all the bloggers is they are all super nice and come across just as sweet as they do on their blogs.  I also got tons of goodies but forgot to take a picture of them, I haven’t sampled anything yet so I’ll take pictures of those tonight and post those pictures tomorrow.

On the train I ate the rest of the bagel I got, minus the other half I dropped on the ground.

It was a really nice sunny day, here’s a view from the train on the way back.

I used my dad’s monthly train pass to get into the city today so we went to my parents house to drop it off to him.  As soon as I walked in I was hit with a fantastic smell.  My mom was roasting a whole chicken, and during the meatless lent that has been the only thing I’ve been craving.  Whole roasted chicken is my favorite Sunday dinner that my mom makes so it was really hard to resist, but I did it.  I have recently heard that you can have whatever you gave up for Lent on Sunday’s but I figure if you’re going to do something, do it right.  So I didn’t cave, although I really wanted to.  I had all the side dishes though.   My mom makes some banging mashed potatoes, after she’s done making them she puts them in the oven under the broiler with a little butter and paprika sprinkled on top.

Drool!

My plate consisted of mashed potatoes:

And a side salad of just romaine lettuce with a little Light Caesar dressing.

And here’s what I missed out on:

Now I’m ready to lay down and get some sleep.  How does riding on a train for a few hours make you so tired?  Tomorrow is another busy day I have work all day then out to dinner for my 24th Birthday with my parents and then some ice cream cake and more presents!   Goodnight everyone!

I’d Forget My Head…

I have been so forgetful, last night I came home already to blog and realized I left my camera at my parents.  No big deal I would just go get it after work today and use my cell phone for pictures today, well I forgot my cellphone today!  So I had no camera, and no cellphone.  I felt so lost, but I have both back in my possession now so we’re all set.

Let’s rewind to yesterdays eats.  For breakfast I had a plain chobani with granola.

For lunch I was craving pb so I had a ww bagel with pb smeared on it.

Andrew wound up being a super awesome boyfriend and woke up early yesterday to drive me in even though he had a delayed opening.  So I had to leave a little early with him to come home to get the hot water heater replaced.  We hung out here until everything was done and it was time for Andrew to go to work.  I was in a weird mood and wanted to go to my parents house while he was gone so I didn’t have to be alone.  So he dropped me off there on his way to work.

For dinner my mom was making spaghetti so I had some.

Picture 006

And on the side I had 2 pieces of bread, one with butter and one with olive oil and fresh cracked pepper for dipping.

Picture 008

That’s where the pictures ended, but I didn’t have anything new and exciting anyway.  I had a Peach chobani for breakfast with granola, and for lunch I had left over chow mein with 3 stalks of broccoli.  It was a yummy filling lunch, but nothing you haven’t seen before.  After lunch I had some green grapes.

After work we stopped to get subs to bring to my parents house for dinner so I could pick up my camera and a package that came in the mail for me.

We stopped at the WaWa where Andrew’s twin brother works and had him made us some sandwiches.  I got a veggie sub with roasted peppers, hot peppers, romaine lettuce, onions, pickles, vinegar, and some parmesan cheese.

Picture 011

On the side I had some kettle chips.

Picture 013

I ate most of the bag but Andrew and my parents sampled the chips as well.  Yummy quick dinner.

The package I had to pick up was some samples of Fage Greek Yogurt!

Picture 020

I got 12 all together but one of the cherry flavored ones broke open during shipment and I’m allergic to strawberry so my Dad will be reviewing that for me.  I’m so excited to try these because I have never had any flavored Fage before, only the plain.

Well it’s been a long day so I’m going to lay down to read until I fall asleep.  Hope you all had a fabulous Wednesday!
