Rainy Day Giveaway

I’m so excited to have my first giveaway! Let’s get the eats out of the way first.

After blogging yesterday I had a banana with pb.

DSCF4235

You probably didn’t notice but the house we’re renting has the same plates my mom has at her house.  Weird.

Then Andrew and I did some more shopping.  The rain never really slowed down yesterday so we watched Little Miss Sunshine after returning until dinner time.

For dinner we were going to have grilled chicken but with the rain my dad didn’t feel like going outside to cook, so we baked it in the oven, it was marinated in Italian dressing.

DSCF4239

On the side we had broccoli and Near East Wild Rice in the Garlic and Herb flavor.

DSCF4242

DSCF4243

Perfect dinner!

And to drink with dinner I had:

DSCF4238

Last night we went to bed nice and early, when I woke up this morning it was raining again.  The good news is the weather is supposed to be really nice the rest of the week, so we used today to do some more shopping.  Before we left I had a Peach Chobani with cereal.

DSCF4247

DSCF4248

I love cereal/yogurt messes.

We went to do some more shopping today at the outlets.  In addition to some clothes that I purchased, my SUPER wonderful mom bought me a gorgeous new Coach bag!

DSCF4277

I love the blue color!  I have the best mom!

Between stores I had a Clif Chocolate Chip Z bar.

DSCF4274

On top of my Coach bag from last year.

Andrew and I also made a special purchase today.  I’d like to introduce you to our new pet, Geoffrey.

DSCF4283

He is a Hermit Crab with a Giraffe painted shell.  Giraffes are by far my favorite animal and if I can’t have one of those as a pet, a hermit crab with a giraffe shell will have to do.  Apparently he is tired from an exciting day he was climbing on the side of his cage for a while on the way home but now he’s sleeping, I’m sure you’ll see plenty of pictures of Geoffrey in the future.

For lunch we stopped at Sonic.  We don’t have any Sonic’s near us so everyone wanted to try it, I was going to wait until we got home to eat but we still had more shopping to do.  So I got a grilled chicken sandwich with no mayo.

DSCF4276

It looks like a whole wheat bun but I can’t be sure.  It was pretty good.

Now that I have caught you all up on the past few meals it’s time for…

My First Giveaway!

One of my favorite things about vacation is buying my friends souvenirs.  It’s always so fun to come home from vacation and share something from your time away with your friends.  You girls have all been really good friends to me since I started this blog back in January so although I can’t buy something for everyone I’d like to give you each the chance to have some great souvenirs from The Outer Banks!  I bought a few things to give to one lucky reader.

Here’s each item in the giveaway.

First up is a T-Shirt.  It’s a size small but it looks like it would fit most people, if you win and you require a different size I will gladly exchange it before sending it to you.  It looks pink but it is tan with green writing.

DSCF4250

DSCF4251

The next thing is a magnet clip.

DSCF4267

The next item is a coffee mug.

DSCF4270

And the last 2 items are some local treats.

I love salt water taffy and I found a cute little tote bag stuffed with some salt water taffy.

DSCF4256

Last part of the package is a can of nuts from a local shop that’s called Try My Nuts.  I picked out a can of peanuts called Dirty Nuts.  They are seasoned with salt, paprika, black pepper, garlic, onion, and chipotle.  I was able to sample them while at the store yesterday and I can tell you they are really delicious.

DSCF4260

Here’s the package all together.

DSCF4288

I am on the lookout for a nice big tote bag for the winner as well so I’ll be adding that to the prize as well, and will share it with you as soon as I find and buy it.

I’m giving you a couple ways to win:

  1. Leave a comment (on this post!) telling me your favorite vacation spot.
  2. Link back to this on your blog, if you don’t have a blog send me an email at 365healthyeats@gmail.com, be sure to let me know if you linked it in the comment section.

So there you go! I’ll announce the winner Friday afternoon so you have plenty of time to enter!

Most Pointless Day of Work EV-ER

EDITED TO ADD:

My email address below was wrong, please see the corrected email address at the bottom of the page, so sorry about any confusion!

So I had some training today that was a complete waste of my time. I’m not going to go into details but I don’t think it was of any value to me.  Because of the training I was cranky all day.  The training started right at 8 so I got to work 10 minutes early and quickly ate my delicious breakfast I didn’t even get to enjoy it but I’m sure it was wonderful.  I had a 2% Cherry Fage with peak protein granola.

Picture 001

Have you guys noticed that almost every picture I take at work,  has a ruler and a purple pen in it?  That’s my favorite pen, and unfortunately I have to use that ruler almost all day every day.  So, sorry if you’re sick of seeing it.

After my “oh so fun” morning I ate my lunch almost as quickly as my breakfast so I could go outside and take a walk and call everyone I knew to complain how much I hated today.  God I’m such a downer and a sailor, almost every word out of my mouth was an “F-Bomb”.   Lunch was a super easy wrap of pb and banana, not that you would be able to tell, I could have McDonald’s cheeseburgers in there but apparently I only took one picture of my wrap and you can not even see the contents.  Girl Scout Honor it was pb and banana.

Picture 003

Oh and for variety I threw a red pen in there!

After my training was over I had an orange.

Picture 004

After work Andrew picked me up and took me to D&D to get an iced coffee.  I’m so sensitive to caffeine I’m still wired hours later.  And there’s no picture because I wouldn’t shut my mouth long enough to think about getting out my camera.  Poor Andrew had to listen to me complain and tell stories of how hilariously sarcastic and bitchy I was all day, he couldn’t get a word in to tell me about his day.

My mom invited us over for dinner tonight and once I found out she was making a whole chicken I was sold on the idea.  Somehow Mom didn’t make a veggie tonight so my plate looks super boring, I assure you it was a treat for the taste buds though.  She made a side of oh so bad for you Rice-A-Roni and I was all over that.

Picture 006

I had another piece of chicken and another spoonful of rice.  Yummmmm!

So this weather we’re supposed to have this weekend made me think about my favorite things to do in the summer and BBQing is one of my favorites.  While talking to my dad tonight I though of the idea of having a (wait for it…)

 Blogger Barbeque.

Would any of you from NJ or NY (I’m about an hour and 15 minute train ride from the city) or anywhere in the Tri-State area really, be interested in meeting and doing a BBQ in my parents backyard at some point this summer?  If you are send me an email:

365healthyeats@gmail.com

If you are I can give you the details of where my parents live and you can see if it’s a trip you’d be willing to make.  I don’t really have any details obviously since I just thought of it but I don’t want to plan anything until I know that some of you are interested.

Well even though I”m off tomorrow, my sweetheart is not and I’m going to go spend some quality time with him before he falls asleep.  Hope you all have a fabulous Friday and I’m hoping it goes by quickly.

Thank You!

First of all I can’t believe that you all took the time to write such heartfelt comments yesterday!  I knew that venting on here would make me feel better and your comments were amazing.  I was literally tearing up just reading your super sweet words.  I knew I could count on you guys to make everything seem better.

I’m sorry I didn’t get to post again last night I just needed to sit and think for a while.  Everything is definitely looking up I realized I do have enough vacation days to cover 12 of the days off.  Every time I get paid I automatically have money removed from my checking account into my savings if I put that on hold for the next few months, I will only be down $79 from what I usually get.  Obviously I’d rather save but if I just save what I can instead of a set amount I’ll be a lot better off then I thought.  I also have started looking into freelance work and other small jobs to keep my cash flow up.  The only thing now is I don’t feel comfortable signing another 1 year lease in case in 6 months things aren’t looking up, when I paid rent today I sent a little note asking my landlords to call me.  Since I’ve lived here for the past 2 years I have never had any kind of trouble with the landlords and have always paid on time.  So I was going to explain my situation and hope that they will let me do the lease on a month to month basis until I get back to full time.  I really see them saying yes, they know Andrew and I and really seem to like us, and I’m sure they’d rather have our money coming in instead of having the place empty.  They live right below us so we have really gotten to know them, and it’s not some big apartment complex but their home so I think we might have a really good chance.

Now since this is a food blog let’s talk about my eats.

Before going to my mom’s yesterday I had a string cheese.

Picture 004

While I was there after talking to my mom about everything I fell asleep on the couch for a few hours!  Nothing like a nap to put you in a better mood.  I left their house and came home for dinner.  First off look at this amazing plate!

Picture 009

How cute right?  My friend, Michelle, gave it to me for my birthday, she got it while on vacation is Savannah.  It was actually designed by a student at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design)  such a fun gift!

So I of course had to have a pb and j sandwich on it for it’s first use.

Picture 012

One the side I also had some grapes.

Picture 014

It definitely was:

Picture 015

Once Andrew returned from work I talked to him and ate 2 tagalongs.  PB overload!

Picture 018

This morning upon waking up I knew today was going to another tough day.  I decided to keep my eats really simple since I didn’t spend anytime preparing them last night.  Let’s just say there was plenty more pb.

For breakfast I had a peach Chobani and granola.

 Picture 019

I ate this so incredibly fast because my boss asked me to run home to grab some papers from when I worked at home 3 weeks ago.  That took a nice hour and a 1/2 out of the work day for me.

For lunch I had pb and banana on an arnold’s sandwich thin.

Picture 021

Picture 022

Yummy as usual.

After work today I had to drop Andrew off at the pharmacy to work his second shift and I had to go get another MRI of my back to make sure it’s healing nicely from my accident last summer.   Before I left work I knew I had to eat something because I didn’t think I’d be able to eat for a while (I was right.)   So I had a Chocolate Brownie Clif Bar.

Picture 026

Brownies are like the only sweet that I can NEVER turn down.  Growing up when it was your birthday you would bring cupcakes or munchkins to share with your class to celebrate.  I never liked either one of those things so I would make my mom bake brownies the night before for me to bring in.  All the teachers loved my birthday because it was something different.  I remember proudly walking around passing out the brownies and listening to everyone get excited because it wasn’t the same old thing.  Another year for my first non-family birthday party my mom asked me what I wanted to have at my party, knowing I wouldn’t cake, I asked her to make Jell-o.  What little kid does that?  She wound up making jell-o jigglers that spelled out Happy birthday Danielle!  What a weird thing to have instead of cake!

This clif bar did not taste like a brownie but it was good none-the-less.

I was so glad I ate because by the time I got out of the MRI and got home it was 7:30.  My parents had just finished eating dinner so even though I wasn’t that hungry I decided to have some of their left over egg noodles with a little butter, garlic powder, and parmesan cheese.

Picture 030

I wish I had only eaten 1/2 a clif bar so I could have had a better dinner.  But this tasted good no matter how many veggies are missing.

I also have been meaning to post this for a few days now.  The lovely Kate of Cooking with Kate has passed on an award to me.

award

First of all, have you all seen her blog?  She’s adorable, she’s a fantastic writer and she’s also a Jersey girl!  (Although she does live in LA now, believe me you can take the girl out of Jersey but you can’t take the Jersey out of the girl)  she went to the same beach club as Bon Jovi and Bruce!  (Remind me one day to tell you my Bon Jovi story it might be my most embarrassing moment!)  So definitely check out her blog!

When receiving this award you are supposed to list 7 things you love so here goes:

  1. My sister, she is the most important person in my life, she has really made me into the person I am today and I would do anything for her.
  2. My parents, everyone says they’re parents are the greatest, well mine really are, my mom has become one of my best friends who I can tell anything to and she always helps me out, and I will always be a Daddy’s Girl.
  3. Andrew, we went out in high school our junior year and broke up a few months later, we met up again when I was in my sophomore year of college and started going out again. I like to say we were high school sweet hearts even though there was a 2 year break in there. He is definitely my soulmate, and I’m so lucky to have him in my life.
  4. My friends.  I don’t know what I’d do without them, I’ve known my 4 closest girlfriends since elementary school!  We are a tight knit group, and I am very grateful to have them.  Once summer comes you’ll be seeing a ton more pictures of them because we’re always on our deck in the summer relaxing and talking.
  5. The beach, I’ve grown up less then 15 minutes from the beach, and there’s nothing like the feeling of the sand between your toes.
  6. You guys.  I can’t tell you enough how much your comments have impacted me, especially in the last few days!  You girls give me inspiration on a daily basis, you are some of the strongest women I (kinda) know.
  7. My extended family, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, I have a pretty great family on both my mom’s side and my dad’s side, and there’s always a ton of laughs when we all get together.

I’m supposed to pass this on to 7 bloggers now but I’m having a hard time coming up with 7 and I’m sure most of you have already gotten it, so I’m passing this on to everyone on my blogroll!  If you’re there consider yourself a Kreativ Blogger award winner!

Well I’m off to bed now, hope you all have a great night!  Tomorrow is Thursday already!  It’s my last full week of work until October so it’s flying by with meetings and redistribution of work so the rest of the week should fly!

Breakfast, Brunch, and Brinner

Every meal I ate today I would, or have already had, at some point for breakfast.  Breakfast is my favorite meal so it’s not weird that a whole day’s eats could be considered a breakfast food.  It’s a rainy gloomy day so I just stuck with my favorite foods for today.

For breakfast I had a delicious bowl of overnight oats. It contained 1/2 a cup oats, 1/2 a cup skim milk, cinnamon, and vanilla, with a scoop of pb on it of course.

Picture 004

As much as I love my yogurt and granola breakfasts, there’s nothing like oats to make you feel satisfied for hours.

Lunch I had a yogurt mess.  It contained 1/2 a cup pb puffins, 1/2 a cup organic apple cinnamon morning o’s (whole foods brand), 1/2 a mango, green grapes, a banana, and of course a Vanilla Chobani.

Picture 005

It doesn’t look good at all does it?  But it was delicious, it took me forever to eat.  It was a really great lunch and something I will probably have again very soon.

For a snack around 3 I had an McIntosh apple.

Picture 012

I was craving eggs for dinner so I decided to just have that and make it a day of breakfast food.  I had 2 eggs scrambled with lots of spinach, and a less then an ounce of Mexican blend cheese.

Picture 018

On the side I had Dr. Prager’s Potato Littles, they are obviously supposed to be for kids, but I like my food in fun shapes sometimes too!

Picture 017

And a veggie breakfast “sausage”

Picture 016

All together:

Picture 020

After dinner we caught up on some things on our DVR, including last night’s Biggest Loser and Lost.  No Lost spoiler or anything but seriously, WTF is going on?  So confusing!

While watching TV I decided to enjoy a serving of fro yo with some chocolate chips.

Picture 024

I’ve had a ton of sweets this week, a piece of chocolate birthday cake, and Ice cream cake Monday, Tagalongs yesterday, and Fro yo today.  I know most of you allow yourself to have something for dessert each night, but it’s so weird to me that I’ve been craving sweets.  As I’ve said many times I don’t have sweet tooth at all so to have this many sweets in a week is pretty unheard of for me.  At least I’m keeping my portions small.

Well tomorrow is Friday!  I’m so happy that this week is almost over, just one more day.  I have no definite plans but some of my friends were in Savannah last week so I’ll probably be seeing them this weekend.  What are you doing this weekend? Anything exciting?

The weekend is in sight…

I can’t believe today is already almost over, this week is flying by!  And the fact that a week from now it’ll be April is nuts!  2009 sure is moving quickly!  Anyone else think this year is going fast?

For breakfast today my old love is back.  Chobani!  Oh how I’ve missed my Chobani, especially my vanilla.  I had that with a peak protein granola sprinkled on top.

Picture 002

Picture 003

This is a heavenly combination!

Lunch today was a pb and banana sandwich with some green grapes on the side.

Picture 006

Picture 009

Some of my grapes were very tart, I didn’t enjoy those few, but the rest were perfectly sweet!

Around 3 I was ready to gnaw my arm off, I didn’t think I had any snacks with me because I really haven’t been snacking in the afternoons.  I was about to hit up the vending machine when I remembered that I did, in fact, have a snack courtesy of Missy.  She sweetly handed out some clif z bars on Sunday at the brunch, and I luckily still had it in my bag.  So thank you so much Missy for keeping me away from the vending machine!

Picture 011

Once I got home from work I was once again hungry, I don’t know what is with my appetite today.  I knew exactly what I wanted I was inspired by this meal.  I had some meatless meatballs and was craving tacos so I made a taco wrap.  I used 4 meatless meatballs broken up and cooked in taco seasoning, romaine lettuce, spinach, mexican cheese blend, and salsa, on whole wheat tortilla.

Picture 015

Picture 021

This was so good!

After resting and watching some of last night’s Biggest Loser it was time to go to the gym.  I did strength training first and then jumped on the treadmill, I didn’t feel like running today so I walked at a steep incline for a while.  According to my HRM my stats are:

  • 450 calories burned
  • Avg HR 153
  • Max HR 181

Have I said how much I love this HRM already?  One thing I did notice on the treadmill is since they’ve got Polar HRM built in my stats show up on not only my treadmill but the one next to me.  I don’t know if that’s normal or not.

Once returning back home I snacked on 2 Tagalongs.

Picture 024

Last year when I got my 2 boxes of Tagalongs they were gone in about a week, I’ve had these for a week now and this is my second helping of them.  Just goes to show me how much I’ve improved since the beginning of the year.

Well lovelies I’m off to bed, I hope you all have a great night!

Catching Up!

Good Morning Bloggies!  It’s so sunny out, and I’m feeling a million times better then I did all week.  Although the sun is being kind of tricky because it’s still chilly out. I’m so excited to be doing nothing, but catching up on all your blogs and relaxing until like 1:30.   I have some things DVRed I might start watching soon including America’s Next Top Model.

Last night after I finshed getting ready I met my friends at a bar nearby.  I once again stuck to water, but Andrew got a hot pretzel and I ate a piece of that dipped into some salsa, that someone else got with their quesadilla.  It was really good.   But no picture sorry!

This morning I woke up and thank god I did wake up somewhat early because for some reason Andrew’s alarm didn’t go off and he needed to be up for a training at his school for 9.  He pretty much had just enough time to get dressed and run out the door.

After he left I got up and decided to make a smoothie based on Rose’s over at On A Lobster Placemat.  I had to vary it a little based it on what I had in my own kitchen.

Picture 002

  • A bruised banana
  • tbsp of pb
  • pineapple (frozen)
  • blueberries (frozen)
  • Picture 003

  • Half a cup of oats
  • Picture 005

  • skim milk (about 1/2 a cup)
  • and 1/2 the 8 ounce bottle of POM.

I thought it was warmer out then it was so I walked out to enjoy this on the deck.

Picture 007

Picture 008

Oh my gosh this was so good, I  never would have thought to put oats in a smoothie.  Thanks Rose for inspiring me to try a great smoothie.  Believe it or not this is the first smoothie I have ever made!  It was really great, and I’m surprised at how filling this was!  I had to take it inside just a minute later I was so cold, and the chill factor from the smoothie didn’t help.

Hope you enjoy your Saturday, I’ll be back later tonight!  I forgot I have a friend’s birthday out tonight, at a bar that’s an old speakeasy!  I’ve never been there but i’ll be sure to take pictures when I do go tonight, because it sounds really cool to me.

An Extra Hour of Light

I love Daylight Savings time.  I love that it’s after 6 out and although it’s overcast it’s still light out there.  Although we lost an hour the day feels longer, and I really don’t mind losing an hour of sleep when in return you get an extra hour of light.  Nothing depresses me more then getting out of work and it’s already dark out, so this is a welcome change.

I had a terrible eating day.  I didn’t eat junk, I didn’t eat fast food, and I didn’t eat too much of anything.  In fact the problem is I didn’t eat enough.  I had NO hunger.  And instead of eating balanced meals regardless I barely ate at all.  Not a good thing at all.

I started out this morning with a cup of coffee and a 1/2 a clif bar.

Picture 002

Picture 005

I finally found them in my Whole Foods.  And they totally taste like a glazed donut!  I enjoyed this outside with my morning coffee on the deck.  The deck is the best part of the apartment and I’m sure as it gets warmer you’ll see that we eat out there every night and most weekend meals, it’s also where our friends all come to hang out during the summer, I know for a fact that as the months get warmer you will be seeing a ton of pictures of my friends enjoying the deck with us, for meals and drinks.

My legs felt so tight this morning I was afraid that I was going to struggle with running today.  So I downloaded Yoga for Runners from yogadownload.com. I’m not saying I consider myself a runner, I don’t.  But I assumed it was going to focus on stretching the muscles that were giving me trouble.  I’ve done yoga one other time before and so was not prepared for a podcast, I didn’t know some of the poses so Andrew made a slideshow to go along with the podcast.  He decided to join me in doing the podcast.  I know yoga is relaxing, but not with the 2 of us.  There was way to much joking around, and way to much “get the f*** outta here I can’t do that, let’s just do child’s pose.”  And whenever they mentioned energy from your fingertips Andrew made buzzing electric noises.  Although we totally sucked at it we laughed a lot and I felt my muscles unwind.  What should have taken 20 minutes took us over 40, we had to keep referring to the slideshow.

After this we went to the gym where I did some more of the first week of training from the Couch to 5k.  I felt great afterwards!  After the gym I wanted to eat but I wasn’t hungry I decided to go to Tropical Smoothie Cafe for a smoothie.  I got their Sunny Day smoothie which is, banana, mango, orange, and kiwi.  I also added soy protein to it.   They were also offering free samples of a new product they’ll be selling, they are going to start carrying flatbread sandwiches, and one of them was a pb, banana, and granola flatbread.  Okay I love pb and banana, but never in a million years would I have though to put granola on it, but I certainly will be now.  It was so delicious and such a simple idea, how did I not think of that before!?

flatbread1

flatbread2

These pictures are from Andrew’s phone, amazing, my phone looks no where near this good, it always looks so washed out.  I’m still amazed by these photos.

My smoothie was ginormous.  It literally took me 2.5 hours to drink 3/4 of it, it was really yummy though.

smoothie2

We came home and took advantage of the nice weather and went for a walk/jog (mostly walk) around the neighborhood.

Once we got back we decided to make dinner, again I wasn’t hungry so I just went with what Andrew was having.  He wanted pasta so he cooked some penne, I had mine with a small amount of butter, garlic powder, and parmesan cheese.  On the side we also had meatless meatballs.  Holy crap they were good, even Andrew enjoyed them and he’s a meat-eater through and through, and typically terrifed of eating vegetables/fake meat products.  When he was younger and his mom made him and his twin brother broccoli one night, Andrew’s brother picked some up with his fork and attempted to eat it, and Andrew screamed “No DO NOT EAT THAT!!!”  He acted like it was poison.  My mom makes him eat broccoli when we go to her house for dinner, he’s getting a lot better with trying new things, but he’s a meat and potatoes kinda guy for the most part.

Picture 007

Picture 009

I put some spicy spaghetti sauce on the “meatballs”  AMAZING!

So I guess that’s it for today!  I hope you all had a fun weekend, I definitely did.  We’re off to my parents house so Andrew can move a couch or something with my dad, poor Andrew he’s always recruited to help my dad with the heavy lifting since he’s surrounded by all girls day in and day out.  Andrew doesn’t mind though, he’s a good guy.

In Like a Lion

I have so much catching up to do, but today is the perfect day.  I’m home from work because there’s 14 inches of snow outside, so much for the warm March weather that I’ve been hoping for.  But this is very true to the old saying, “March comes in like a Lion and goes out like a Lamb.”   I stayed home today with  Andrew and we’re having the perfect snowy day lots of relaxing and reading.  I couldn’t ask for a better Monday to be honest.  But I have to start with Saturday since I haven’t posted since then.

Saturday morning I had a doctors appointment, once I was done I went to my parents house and ate some of my sister’s oatmeal.  I used 1/2 a cup of oatmeal, 1 cup of 2% milk, 3/4 of a banana whipped in, cinnamon, and vanilla.  Of course I put some pb on it too.

Picture 011

I took the time to cook this on the stovetop and gosh was it good.  Look at that pb melting perfectly.  Here’s a spoon shot like Kath .

Picture 013

I ate this kind of late in the day since I had the doctors appointment, after Andrew got out of work we went to the gym, and then had to come home and get ready to go out for my Mom’s birthday dinner.  We went to Yesterdays again, same place we went on Valentine’s day.  Except I totally splurged on the meal. I paid for it later though.

First I started off with a big salad from the salad bar.

picture-022

I had there perfect pasta salad, on a bed of greens, with carrots, onions, cauliflower, and broccoli, all with oil and vinegar for the dressing.

I also snacked on 2 rolls while I waited for my entree.  There rolls are so fresh it’s hard to resist.

Picture 024

Here’s the big splurge that had me in agony for hours after dinner.  I got baked manicotti.  I should have asked for just a little cheese on top, instead I got a ton.  And instead of being smart about it and taking some off I ate all of it.  Stupid mistake, but at least I learned my lesson and won’t be doing that again anytime soon.

Picture 026

Look at all that cheese!  You can barely see the 2 manicottis under it all. The manicotti without the cheese would have been fine, I definitely over did it on this meal.  On the way home my stomach started cramping up horribly, I was almost in tears.  We went back to my parents to have cake that we never wound up having since none of us wanted dessert.  I fell asleep there for a couple hours trying to ignore the stomach pains.  After I woke up I felt a little better but we just came home and read until we fell asleep.  Boring Saturday night, but really it was my fault I should have guessed after eating so lightly for the past 2 months that that amount of, what I’m assuming to be full fat cheese, would make me ill.  Lesson learned.

Sunday Andrew had work in the morning so I hung around the house and cleaned out the pantry and a few other odds and ends.  We also woke up to about an inch of snow which was melting quickly. For breakfast I had 2 kashi waffles with sugar free syrup on the side for dipping.

Picture 033

About an hour before Andrew got out of work  I had some vegetarian chili, on top of brown rice, with less then an ounce of Mexican cheese.

This was really good and I ate about 3/4 of the bowl.  Once Andrew got out of work we headed to the gym, it was an okay day but I felt a little weak, kind of frustrating, but I pulled through.

After the gym we went to Andrew’s parents house to visit, then to Whole Foods to get some dinner, and some food since we were running low.  Good thing we did because there’s no way we’re leaving the house today, except to maybe play in the snow, clean off our cars.

I got some salad from the salad bar at Whole Foods.

I got some roasted peppers, and the rest was just a plain old salad, on the side I purchased some whole wheat onion rolls from the bakery and couldn’t wait to try one!

Picture 047

Soooo good!  I’m so happy I picked these up.

Then it was time for the birthday cake for my mom.  Since I never ate cake as a child, and still don’t like it, my entire family is forced to have ice cream cake on their birthdays.  Not that they mind though, really who doesn’t like Ice Cream Cake?  I don’t like chocolate ice cream though so I switch with Andrew, I get his vanilla, and he get’s my chocolate and most of my crunchies, I love the vanilla ice cream part, especially the outer layer of that frosting.  So even though this looks like I had 2 pieces it’s the the top of mine and the top of Andrews.

I hate that you can’t separate the flavors that well, you can see I still had to endure some chocolate ice cream.

All last they were talking about this big storm we were getting, Andrew’s school announced they were closed last night, I had a feeling I wouldn’t be going in either.  We woke up at 5:45 and the snow was up to our front door, when we opened the screen door it skimmed the top of the snow, and there’s a step up to get to the door. We went back to bed and slept until my alarm went off.  I had a weird dream that we only got a dusting of snow and everyone at work was mad at me for calling out, when I woke up I couldn’t remember which part was true so I had to run to the window and check, once I realized we did have about 10 inches I knew it was safe for me to really call out.  Around 8:30 it started snowing again and we got close to 14 inches.  It’s bitterly cold out and I’m happy to be home safe inside instead of braving it out on the roads, I’ve heard on the  news there’s been lots of accidents today, and I’m grateful I have an understanding boss that knows I’m the biggest baby when it comes to driving in the snow.

Once we lazily rolled out of bed at 9 this morning I made scrambled eggs for Andrew and I.  I also bought vegetarian breakfast “sausage patties” last night and had my first one today.  It was different, but overall I liked it.  I also had another one of the whole wheat onion rolls with it and a nice cup of Keurig Coffee.

So I guess it’s time to go clean up a little outside, I’m sure there will be plenty of hot chocolate to report on later.  If you got a lot of snow today I hope you’re safe at home, if not please be careful on your way home from work later today!

One More Day

I’m so happy tomorrow is Friday!  I’m sure most of you agree.  I can’t believe there’s only 2 more days of February left, where did this month go?  A week from Saturday we set the clocks ahead which means an extra hour of daylight in the evening, which I am so ready for!  Spring is just around the corner and the idea of that has me smiling from ear to ear.

I’ve had a hard time getting to sleep lately, I don’t know if I have more energy then I used to from the routine exercising but I used to be able to lay down and within a few minutes be fast asleep.  I’ve had more trouble lately so I want to try to get into bed a little earlier for the next few weeks in the hope I’ll be able to fall asleep earlier too.  We’ll see how that goes, but in order to do that I need to blog quickly tonight and get right into bed.

This morning I had overnight oats with 1/2 a cup oats, 1/2 a cup skim milk, cinnamon, and vanilla.  This morning I added dried cranberries and pb of course.

I still can’t believe how long oats will keep me satisfied.  I used to snack between breakfast and lunch now I can easily hold out for lunch time.

For lunch today I had leftover cavatelli that Andrew had made for his dinner last night.

Picture 018

I ate this cold, I’m a big fan of cold pasta.

On the side I also had 3 mini sweet peppers.

Picture 016

Even though the package says “sweet” the red were kinda spicey, but they were still really really tasty.  I got a huge bag of these from Costco so except to see these a lot in the next week.

Around 3 I got hungry and had a banana with pb sandwiched in the middle.  The department vp came over to talk to me while I was snacking on this so I didn’t get a picture, here’s an old one I took the last time I had this snack though.

For dinner tonight I didn’t know what I wanted.  So I just had a few different things that sounded good.  I had a toasted ww bagel with light butter, a string cheese, and a romaine lettuce salad with light caesar dressing.

This was a weird but good dinner, it satisfied a few different cravings I was having so it hit the spot for me.

Well as I said I’m going to get into bed early tonight so I’m going to end the post here.  Hope you all have a great night, and that tomorrow goes by quickly.  Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?

A New Spin On Leftovers

Whew Monday is over!  Today was a pretty good day, I’m feeling much better today.  I would say I’m 90% back to good health.  My work day flew right before, before I knew it the day was over and it was time to go home.  Tomorrow is not going to be a fun day I’m starting a new project and I pretty much have 2 days to get it all done.  Should make tomorrow go by quickly as well, but it is going to be so hectic!  Hope you all had a fabulous Monday!

Chobani was on sale at Stop and Shop 10 for 10 so of course I stocked up.  I feel like it’s been a while so I grabbed a peach one for breakfast today.  I also restocked my Bear Naked Peak Protein Granola so I was able to have a protein filled breakfast.

Picture 004

You can see my desk was a complete disaster today with all the papers surrounding my breakfast.  My desk is usually super neat but I let all the papers pile up around me today.  Hopefully after this quick project is over my desk will be back to my normal organized work space.

Lunch today I had a serving of Pacific Natural Foods Organic Creamy Tomato soup.  I enjoyed it a lot, but I’ve never been a big fan of tomato soup, I would get this again just for ease, but it’s hardly something I would crave.

Picture 007

On the side I had 15 kashi crackers, but only ate 10 of them.  I put the other 5 back in the box for another day.

Picture 006

After this lunch I was satisfied for a long time but around 3 I got hungry again.  I snacked on 3/4 of a banana with pb sandwiched in the middle.

Picture 010

I love this snack it is so filling and it does an awesome job of fueling a workout or keeping me from snacking all afternoon at work.  It gets the job done for serious. Yes, I just said for serious, it’s something I’ve been made fun of since high school, it’s something I say though I know it’s not good English though.

For dinner tonight I was craving the rest of my taco meat from yesterday.  But for the sake of the blog, I knew tacos again would be so boring so I re-created tacos with a new twist.  Taco Pizza was born!

It was a whole wheat boboli crust, 2.5 ounces of taco meat, 2 tablespoons of salsa, 2 sweet mini peppers diced,  and a little more then an ounce of a low fat mexican blend cheese.  I haven’t used VeggieGirl’s “Holy Yum” on this blog yet, but for real guys, HOLY YUM!

 picture-0121

Dare I say this was better then regular tacos.  After I finished eating I thought of one thing that would have made it better.  Shredded lettuce on top once it was out of the oven.  Seriously that would have been out of this world!  Please if you find yourself with taco leftovers, make this pizza, you will NOT regret it!

After dinner I was contemplating going to the gym.  I know I’m probably not going to be able to go tomorrow because I have a doctors appointment and then a dinner date with my friend Michelle.  But it’s cold out there!  So instead I looked on demand and found a yoga sculpt program.  I’ve never really done yoga, I mean sure on the Wii Fit, which totally doesn’t count.  After I set it up and the show started I found out it was level intermediate to advanced.  I didn’t feel like looking for a new one so I did the best I could, I can’t believe how much work it was!  Yoga is something I will totally do again.

P.S. Head on over to Hangry Pants where Heather and Mark are giving away a box of Zoe’s Granola!
